Lips pressed tightly together to hold back a further smile as Kieran made his point. Teu finally laughed while gently holding his cheeks in her slim hands. ”I know when you are fretting, my heart. Your child and I are doing just fine.” Emerald orbs stared back into his ice blue ones as she attempted to reassure her fiancé. Kieran had not had an easy childhood due to his twin brother. Elwin was a cruel man that in a short time could find out that he was partial dragon. If the twin ever learned that he could transform into a dragon at will….that could lead to devastating results for many. Teu hoped that it would never come to that. For now, she would push the thoughts out of her mind in exchange for a lovely evening that they had laid out before them. ”Thank you, dear,” she said as Kieran took his leave to fetch some water.

Teu listened to Taryn as she spoke of her own pregnancy. It was good to hear that there had been a time she had enjoyed while being with the family. Unfortunately, it had been the mother-in-law to bring such support instead of her own husband. Ever since Taryn had moved in with Arziros to the shop, Teu had taken to watching the battered woman carefully. Small tells were most likely always going to be present in the woman in regards to her abuse. The half elf smiled tenderly at the other woman while touching her elbow lightly. ”I’m glad that Krizira had been able to help with the cravings like that. It is good,” she commented with a warm smile.

It was understandable that Taryn would be on edge considering what she had experienced. From what Teu could gather there were seldom times in which she would travel outside the estate belonging to her husband’s family. ”Oh, yes, it is quite safe. This place is heavily enchanted as well as guarded. Besides, I know that Raith and other gods are present for this festival. Nothing shall happen this night. If you are concerned we can move closer to keep watch.” Teu wanted to offer the woman options for her to make her own decisions. Her life had been devoid of such things for a long time. It was time for Taryn to learn how to make selections of her own. From there Teu and Kieran would support her while she build up confidence.

Tears formed and were ushered away. ”Take your time.” She watched as Taryn took some space for herself. As Kieran returned, she took one of the offered glasses of juice. ”Yes…she just needs a moment to collect herself. Arziro is having fun with the other children.” Her gaze softened as the interaction between nephew and uncle took place. Small sips were taken of the sparkling juice, which did help settle her stomach as well.

”Why don’t the three of us take up a seat with some food that they have gracefully put out for us?” she offered as a suggestion. Her hand was extended out for Arz to take hold of for them to walk over to the refreshment table. A plate was taken for them to take some options together before finding a seat. The boy was positioned to sit between the two adults while eating. ”This is a rather nice evening,” Teu commented with a smile at Kieran while looking over Arziros’ head.

It was comforting to hear her laugh before she tried to reassure him. Kieran gave a coughing chuckle as he rubbed at the spot she poked. ”Yes, but none of them have had my child, now have they?” He could not deny her skills as a healer, nor her father’s current position as Champion. Despite this, he couldn’t help but fuss over his beloved. Teu was carrying his child. Genetics of dragon and wolf may very well be competing in her womb, a scary thought indeed. ”Then I shall get you something to drink, my love,” leaving the women to chat about pregnancies.

Taryn gave a soft shake of the head. ”Only when I drank water. But Krizira hovered over me with a thousand cups of herbal teas and fresh juices, so I was never without. That was the only time of peace…” She dejected her eyes in embarrassment for the reveal of closely guarded information. In her weakness, Arziros spied some children throwing snowballs at each other and yanked his hand from hers to dart off. ”Arziros!” A nearby guest turned toward Taryn with a warm smile. “Oh, don’t worry. Sularia is the safest place for children and women. We have enchantments in place for extra security.” Taryn blinked then leaned in towards Teu. ”Is it really alright to let him wander off, alone? He’s a month shy of two!”

But as she watched her child, something in her calmed. Arziros was actually forming little balls of snow and handing them out to others. He wasn’t demanding, or harmful to them. To see him be so friendly with others melted her heart with warmth. There was hope for her child yet. Tears welled up, Taryn wiping away at them. ”Excuse me, Teu…” She offered the woman a sad, broken smile before turning to leave, needing a moment to herself while hating that she abandoned her son to Teu’s supervision without warning.

Kieran returned with two glasses of sparkling grape juice, festive for a party, yet perfect for pregnancies and delicate stomachs. He handed one to Teu as he watched Taryn’s retreating back. ”Everything alright?” Arziros’ laughter caught Kieran’s attention, who turned in time to watch the toddler run up to him and attempt to toss a snowball at him. ”Got you, Un-el Ieran!” The snowball had landed on his shoe, but Kieran gave a hearty chuckle as he stooped to his nephew’s level, offering him the other cup. ”Thirsty, Arziros?” ”Yes, Un-el Ieran.” Even a child, just old enough to no longer be called a babe, could tell the difference between the identical twins

Teu chewed lightly on her lower lip as she looked over the revelry. Her nerves were slightly on edge due to the hormones, and yet she could feel the sheer glee at being at a function with her fiancé. What was better was that her sister-by-law and son were there as well. Everything was beginning to fall into place with their family despite all of their heartaches along the way. It was now their turn to be happy.

From time to time the elf glanced with emerald eyes at Kieran to make sure that he was doing well within the growing crowd. All that she could read off of him was the complete contentment. Transforming into his dragon form had taken a toll upon his body, but it seemed to help create a new sense of calm that had been lacking ever since their first visit to his family. That trip had been as close to a disaster as Teu had been willing to get. Thankfully, much had changed since then.

She glanced over at Taryn and then Arziros while smiling at them both. They looked much healthier than when first arrived at the shop. Neither sported the bruises that had stained their porcelain skin. Between Teu’s healing treatments and herbs it had been all brought to a clean heal to keep the scars away. The last thing that Teu wanted was for them to look upon their own flesh to remember the torture. It had been terrible to see them healing mentally as well as physically from what they had been through. Teu was never going to allow them go through that again.

Teu smoothed out her bright red dress as it had furled slightly in a gentle wind that writhed through the festivities. Gold embroidery decorated the trimmings of her outfit that matched perfectly with Kieran. It was blessing to live in such a talent filled city like Mamlak to get all their tailored clothing from. Nothing was left to be desired.

A heavy sigh released from the healer as the prodding inquiry was made again. She shook her head while laughing against Kieran’s chest. Both arms wrapped around his waist while standing in front of the man. ”Will you just calm down? I am perfectly fine, thank you. But you do know woman have been having babies for millennia? Besides, I am an epic healer as well as the daughter of the Champion of Life. I think we are going to be just fine.” Teu teased Kieran while poking him in the chest a little bit harder than she had intended.

She cupped his cheek all while stroking it with her thumb. ”I need to get something to drink soon though. It seems that no matter how much I consume, I am always thirsty. The same thing happened with Dae,” she mused while looking over Kieran’s shoulder at his sister by law. ”Did that happen to you Taryn? Were you always thirsty? I can drink an entire pitcher of water and feel like I haven’t had a thing.”

Could life get any better? Since Taryn and Arziros had been shipped off to stay with Kieran, the young toddler began to mellow out. It helped that the older two children refused to be bullied by the boy. They also set an amazing example of behavior that Arziros was more receptive to since being outside of Elwin's influence. The young Rothslin had a heavy dose of reality in the best way possible since getting there.

Kieran had also finally come to terms with his baser animalistic needs since completely turning into a dragon. It helped him be not so hostile against Michael, allowing a much-needed bond to form between them, if only for Teu's sake. Michael was there for Teu, even when Kieran could not be, only holding her best interests at heart. It was something the noble could not ignore. While a goddess died, the monster behind it beaten back, the world had a hopeful future once more. But what really had Kieran tickled pink was the fact he was finally going to be a father himself. Teu was pregnant and neither of them could be happier.

With the celebration of the new year, Kieran insisted they all go together, including his sister-in-law and nephew. It would be her first event without Elwin hovering over her shoulder, breathing terror down her spine. Taryn dressed Arziros in a vest suit in black and silver, donning a rather plain black dress herself. Kieran wore almost an identical outfit to his nephew, but his vest was red with gold trim to match Teu's dress. As Kieran gazed lovingly on his sister, she seemed excited and happy. He was content to see Taryn finally blossom into a rather confident woman, making her appear more like the person she used to be before his twin broke her.

Wrapping his arm around Teu, Kieran beamed at the guests mingling around Sularia. More often than not, however, he kept glancing down at his beloved, trying to read any signs of discomfort that might flit across her face. "You just let me know, Teu, and we can go at any time." He kissed her forehead, wanting her to know, as best as he could, that he was there for her every step of the way. His chest felt like it would burst with his love and her growing belly.
