The house was dark, and had an eerie feel as if none lived there, as if a tragic event took place. This was a place that could easily create the rumors of hauntings. Yet, it was not uninhabited. Laying on the couch was the corpse of one Celeste Nash. She had the evidence of being meticulously cleaned, her hair was brushed, dressed in an ankle length dress. Her hands were folded neatly over her stomach. If it wasn’t for the puncture wound straight through her chest, the elf might be mistaken for merely sleeping.

Curled at the foot of the couch was a white tiger, mournfully resting her head on her paws. This was not the way things were supposed to go. Sitting on her knees beside Celeste was Lirin. In her black dress, hair pulled back in a tight bun, the vampire was motionless with her head bowed. She was silent, waiting for her sister in law’s return to do a proper ceremony.

It had only been a few days. Akira had ran away. Larka went on a raging warpath. Lirin had scooped up her sister, and did the dutiful thing any elf would do. She prepared the body dotingly. A large pile of logs and wood had been carefully stacked for a funeral pyre. All the while, she grieved. Some hours she would scream, others she would cry. But mostly, she sat there, still as a statue, and silent as her heart ached. Sixteen years ago, she dreamed of reuniting with Celeste. Here Lirin is, preparing to put her to rest.
