“Perhaps you are right. I’m not even sure that I want to know anymore, to be honest”, he replied. There was too much for a normal person to take in and as far as he was concerned, as long as they had each other and their families they would be fine. Aelwen wasn’t as worried as he had been, but it could have been due to either her blood or her mother. Likely the latter, he suspected more even though he had yet to see her on this realm.
Nightfall was at is climax and he knew that it wouldn’t be overly too long before daybreak came and they would finish their travel to Crowia. He couldn’t help to continue thinking about how all of this was going to play out.His attentioned turned temporarily towards the disapproval of the horses towards her sass.
“Fortunately they are tied up otherwise they would likely ran and you’d be the one to chase them.” He snuggled up close to the halifing and shook his head.
“You all should get along. You are much more than what you give yourself credit for and it took me a bit to see it as well. Just don’t punch my brothers through the walls…they seem more nicer than they had been in Daeluin.” He was lead into the tent and returned the kiss, thinking they were turning in for the night, but there were other thoughts hatching in her head as he found himself shirtless and pulled down with her. Not that Christian minded it of course as they spent the rest of the night in each other’s embrace.
Morning came too soon for him as he awakened upon Aelwen’s kiss. He was sure that most of their time had been spent not sleeping at all. After shaking himself more awake, Christian stretched slightly as he laid down for a few more moments with her on top of him.
“Good thing you are as well. Guess we have to get going then.” While he wanted to remained there and nap for a bit, he reluctantly got up and helped packed their stuff, placed it onto their horses and sat out to ride the rest of the way.
They reached the city in a matter of hours, reaching the early afternoon hours. The city gates opened up and the guards recognized the prince and let them in. It was busy as ever especially in the marketplaces. It was like a desert sanctuary. Fierce, long legged canines were commonly either guarding around buildings or lazily lying down. He led the way to a large building deep within Crowia and settled their steeds into the stables before heading inside with her. One of the servants welcomed him as they took to one another by their wrists and bowed their heads. “Young prince, thank goodness you have made it safe. Your parents have yet to arrive from their hunt just yet so it will be a while. But I will have someone send word to them out in the desert.” They looked to Aelwen and cast her as smile before bowing his head at her, “This must be the fair woman that our young lord must have went to retrieved. We are relieved that you were founded and helped bring him back.”
“Yes, this is Aelwen. She will be staying with us for a little bit. Please make sure to make the preparations.” Christian ventured further into his home, taking in old memories and it was strange, it was like the one he grew up in, but it was still very much weird. He led her into his chambers and settled their belongings onto the floor and went over to the window that oversaw a good portion of the kingdom.
“The hunts he’s referring to are for necessity but more for sport for the karbrew, the dogs you saw earlier. They are seen as the protectors of the city for centuries. Legends has it that they were gifted to us by the desert god and are very loyal as a result to our kind. It won’t be too long before they return home.”

“Even if we got answers I don’t think we would understand them or even remotely begin to believe how deep that rabbit hole goes Love.” Aelwen gave him a smile. Her mother knew more about it and yet Aellie didn’t have a good grasp of what her mother was saying. She just knew the world from before was gone and not everyone survived.
She could hear his heartbeat now that they were so close. It had always been in the cards that they would be in love and no matter how upsetting her mother’s actions had been it was to play into that. Aelwen had punched her mother when she found out but… her mother’s actions had spawned something that was going to last a lifetime.
“True… Nightmares tend to be little assholes about it.” She could hear the horses reply with sass as she stuck her tongue out in their direction. She nuzzled into him as he pet her head and chuckled a bit. “I couldn’t see it before but now it’s all that I see.”
She tilted her head up to him. “I am a bit. I am a half-elf… I am short… I am angry. They might not like any of those things. I’m meeting your family for the first time. I am worried but… For right now.” She took his hand and she pulled him towards their tent. “I’ll worry about it tomorrow.”
She kissed him and pulled up his shirt. “It’s good practice since we know the world isn’t going to end.” Pulling him down they spent the night doing what they did the best once before. In the morning she looked up at him and kissed his jaw. “It’s time to wake up…” She yawned a bit and clung to his body. “Desert so cold during the night… good thing you are so warm.”

“You have a point there. When I woke up in this world, they were hardly the same idiots I knew them to be. And thankfully my father is well and in good health. I don’t know…there’s just some many questions and little amount of answers.” He was perfectly fine with how this world was, but there was something still tugging at his mind about it. The details were a bit hazy for certain.
The wrath of the gods upon the land had been precise and they narrowly escaped the recent trouble. It was hard to say what had happened to the others, but he was sure that they were fine.
“From what I’ve gathered, Crowia was spared of that trouble and nothing happened there.” Of course, it was all very different but he wasn’t overly worried about that aspect.
Christian smiled at her and moved in closer,
“I know, Aelwen. And I’ll be yours always too.” Hell, her statement had been very true for he had hunted her down right into her own homeland. Destiny, fate, call it whatever one wanted, but it was obvious to him that she was the right one for him, even if their rocky start said otherwise.
“Don’t think we should test our luck by continuing to ride. And you’re right, it's better to show up while they are awake.” Christian wrapped his arm around her as she fell against him and he watched the fire burn brightly.
“Not to mention that the horses might get upset with their rest being cut prematurely.” His hand brushed against her hair softly as he reclined a bit and nuzzled his head against hers. Her small frame brushed against his larger one.
“How are you feeling about this? Us, I mean? I can’t say that I’ve ever seen this scenario occurring. In fact, I was sure that back then you’d already have killed me for doing something stupid…again.” Their antics back in the past were amusing to look back to now, but he was certainly felt differently when she had hit him and then embarrassed him the night of their meeting.
“My folks will love you, I’m sure. Are you worried?”

The desert air was rough but that was the one thing that both of her bloodlines had in common. They were hardened races from the landscapes they were from. Aerkai alone were a warring race and the Rosenites were hardened by their environment and their actual birth. The ride out into the desert was alright. They were fairing alright and Aelwen kept her witch hat square on her head whenever the wind blew their direction. Arriese Nightmares were built for the desert and they were going strong. A good buy for travelers like Christian and herself.
Taking his canteen she drank a bit too but she was looked up at the sky admiring it from the desert ground. This was her cousin’s favorite view and she could see why. “That happened with a lot of people who passed between the worlds… I’m glad that they made it.” She smiled at him as she put the cap back onto the canteen. She wanted him to know she was listening even if she was daydreaming.
“Nerezza has bigger things on her plate than the world change I reckon.” Aelwen had a smirk on her face. “Like being married to Kaiser and not allowed to get in bed with him. Something about saving her purity.” She tilted her head at him and took his hand into her own. “I’ll always be your Aelwen. No matter what. I don’t think even the worlds falling apart could change that.” She gave him a silly smile.
But her smirk disappeared when she thought of Arri. “I imagine Mother thinks it is safer for us to leave Sularia than it is to stay there. Crowia isn’t being affected right now.” She fell next to the fire and pulled him down with her. “Are we staying here tonight or are we going to finish getting the rest of the way to Crowia?” Her pink hair snuggled into his chest as she closed her eyes.
“I’m sure they would prefer us to get there in the morning as not to wake them up…”

Christian didn’t exactly know how this was going to play out when they made it to his home. For one thing, Aelwen wasn’t a shifter and he wasn’t completely sure how that would be handled by his family. Another was that he abruptly left home as soon as he came back without leaving them a reason. And then there was his brothers, who seemed vastly different from how they were in the old world. Everything was completely confusing but one thing wasn’t at least- Aelwen. She was still pretty much the same girl that knocked him over a fallen tree after some misunderstandings and the same one that tricked him into kissing her if that was the right word for it since even she was shocked by the action. He had worried for her ever since coming here and now he was bringing her to Crowia to see what his neck of the woods was like, upon her request. The journey was long and they still had a way to go, but he assumed that one more day of riding would be enough for them to reach it.
For now, they set up camp for the night, with the horses tied and fed and the campfire blazing away the shadows. The star-filled night lit up and blanketed the surrounding area as Christian heated up some of the stew he had made the previous day.
“It won’t be too much longer”, he said as he took a swig of water from his canteen and handed it over to her. “It pretty much looks the same as I remember it, but there’s a lot that had been changed or was changed or whatever. I’m still confused about this whole situation with being on Revaliir. Even if her mother tried to explain the details, he still felt he would be lost somewhere down the line. Perhaps as mortals, they weren’t supposed to understand these things.
“My family’s the same, aside from my brothers. But I think that’s one of the few things I like about this world. I would say the same could be said about you and your family, but Nerezza’s still spunky. And thank the gods you hadn’t changed either. Not sure what would happen if you had.” As fierce as Aelwen was, she also had a gentleness about her, whenever she wanted to show it off that way. While she cared about him, he didn't think twice about not stroking her wrath. He liked being alive and in one piece.
“Still surprised that you were allowed to come with me. I know things are hectic back in Sularia and all.”
