He watched her as he continued to speak to her. She did as she was told, but not before stating the obvious. Does his talking really surprise her?  He starred curiously as she approached. “The mother,” he purred out loud. He could only assume that she meant something like a deity. But mother of what then? Deities always are in charge of different things. Maybe mother nature judging by her knowledge of exotic species. But, then maybe she could just be another scholar, and this girl is trying to follow in her foot steps. “Tell me, what is it like being the child of a deity?” He asked in a soft voice. He always for some reason, says what’s on his mind more openly when he’s being stroked lovingly.

But then again what would this mean? Deities were always busy with their duties. How long would they have to wait. He whipped his tail on a journal, and it slid of the table. He glanced back silently confused at what exactly happened. This could be bad, he wasn’t controlling his actions all to well. The journal landed still open on the same page. But a small letter was laying next to it. “Imagine that, I’ve seem to have accidentally knocked a book over.”

The cat jumped down, and moved over to bag laying on the floor. “Will you grab that letter for me out of the journal?” He asked as he picked the bag up in his teeth. Then he dragged it over to an open window. “hurry we haven’t got much time, the journal will attract the librarians attention,” he climbed on the sill of the window. “Don’t want her to catch you dropping old books do you?” As Sapphire turned around she saw a boy wearing a green bandana, and normal clothes. Tufts of orange hair poked out from the bottom of his bandana, along with his pointed ears. His blue feline eyes fixed on the girl.

Sapphire looked around the room as soon as she got in it and found the old journals. With the layer of dust on them the young one did not feel like causing wrath upon her should someone find out it was her who laid her hands on them. Her blue eyes turned towards Cerberus and she smiled at him. She loved kitty cats and sometimes they had them around the temple.

Suddenly he was talking to her and it was the most wonderful thing! In excitement she closed the door and turned to him. “You can talk!” She had always heard about talking animals and sometimes they made their way to the temple where she could spy in on conversations. She moved her hand and rubbed his belly softly. “Hmmm, I can see that. We would need to go see my mother first. Are you alright with that?”

She sat down and watched him. “You will have to talk to her cause she will know what you are.” Sapphire propped herself up. “She's older than the librarian. More powerful too. She is the Mother.” She smiled at him and laughed. “Do you know who The Mother is?” She pet his belly a bit more. "Someday I'm going to be a scholar but if we go we're going to have to get someone to go with us. We'll end up dead otherwise so maybe if we go see my mommy we can get someone from the Temple to come with us."

Cerberus jumped up on a table careful to not disturb any of the old journals spread out on the one side. There was a stack of crates in each of the far corners of the room. There was also on sitting next to the table with the lid off. The contents resembles the old leather bound books that were spread out on the table. The contents of the journals seemed like it was written by and adventurer. But they also contained very detailed research notes. The lock for the latch on the crate lay on the floor underneath the table. Cerberus stretched out on the table watching Sapphire with curiosity.

Tibbits in nature were commonly secretive creatures when it came to their true intentions. They have spent centuries upon centuries observing the other humanoid races, while hiding in plain sight. He was just as guilty of this as his ancestors. Although unlike others of his race he really doesn’t settle anywhere. He scratched as ear then raised his paw at her, and gestured her inward. His mewed at her to further entice her. It was something about cute cats that always drew others in.

“Just be quick, and close the door child,” He said quietly. He was careful not to raise his voice. He did not want to alert the librarian to the fact he could talk. Talking animals are usually put on display, or used for research, and he did not want that. He stretched out , and yawned. “Now that I have your attention I would like to recruit you for an adventure,” Cerberus stated staring at her. Feline eyes always feel like they could stare straight through someone into their souls. “I was reading through these journals, but the pages just don’t feed my curiosity, I want to get out there and experience this stuff,” He admitted.

His meow reached her elvish ears and she gave him a gentle smile across her light colored lips. She continued to scratch his ears. It wasn't unusual to have cats and other animals around Arri but she loved animals. They were one of the reasons she wanted to go on a grand adventure and discover the whole world. He was much more fluffy then other cats she had come across in the desert city.

His purr was as gentle as he was against the palm of her hand. She continued to show him lots of love and affection. This was how she learned how to be gentle. Her mother was a goddess and most of the time she was not home so Sapphire relied on others to learn. She knew her mother tried her best to block out requests when spending time with her children but it could not be helped. The weight of the world was on Angela most of the time.

Perking up she watched as the orange cat jumped down from her lap. “Where are you going?” She whispered softly as she followed him. She peeked around the corner at the librarian who probably could sense what she was up to anyways and continued on her way. “Where are you going kitty?” She called to him once again as she followed him and opened up the door for him. “Why this room?” She peeked her head in and let her blue eyes look around the old room.

He watched as the lavender girl closed her book, and stood up. Curiously she had used magic to put the book back up on the shelf where it was originally.  His ears twitched when she mentioned the word cat. Could she actually sense him? She approached his shelf, and stared him in the eyes. He felt his head slightly tilt as she stood on the tip of her shoes to reach for him, He meowed quietly as she said, “damn.” He yawned as she retrieved a chair. Next thing he knew her face was in his. He than noticed her blue eyes. Hus eyes closed as she scratched him behind the ears.

Being held took him back to another time when he was a temple cat. There was a gentle woman who would always cuddle him most of the days. He wondered what happened to her after  he decided to leave. Enjoy the library, he pondered this. It was quiet, which was preferable. He purred as she continued to pet him, Sapphire, what a pretty name he thought. Like the precious gem, her parents must cherish her a lot to give her such a precious name.

He looked up at her, and purred louder. She seemed to be a nice person. She also seemed to be quiet, and meek. Scholars always make good companions for a cat, he thought. He jumped down, and walked over to  a closed door. Turning his head back, he made sure his eyes met hers then he meowed as if he was beckoning to her.

Standing up on the table after she got done reading the page in the book she closed it and sighed. “I'm done with this one.” The librarian gave her a smile as if she had heard that phrase so many times before. Hopping off the table her dress and all fell up and down though her dress did not reveal anything. She put the book back up on its shelf  with magic before looking around.

She sniffed the air. “Is the cat here?” The librarian nodded a bit and she ran over to where he was. She looked up to where he was and tilted her head. Her blue eyes sought out his as she got on her tip toes. She stretched her arms and found she could not reach him. “Damn.” She looked around and got a chair before she finally could reach him. “Hi kitty.” She gently tickled him behind his ears before picking him up.

“I saw you here the last time I got to visit! Do you like the library?” She jumped down and sat on the chair. She sat him on her lap and gently stroked his fur. “You are so soft and fluffy.” She giggled a bit as she now combed his fur with her finger tips. “You are one of my favorite shades of orange.” She tilted her head. “I'm Sapphire named after my eyes.” Her lavender hair laid gently over her shoulders as she continued to stroke his pretty fur.

The orange haired cat listened in silence. Weary of giving it’s secrets away to the others in the room he watched. His blue eyes tracking the two as they talked. He wondered what Adeluna was, curiosity is common to his kind after all. Judging by the context of the conversation it was a place. Whether it was a village, city, or building he had no clue. He considered filing this under none of his business, and return to his nap. But, the feline in him said, “what if.” This would be a test to see if curiosity could really kill the cat, for his sake he hoped not.

The Librarian seemed to know the lavender haired female. She was a nice woman, she allowed him to reside within the library, and in exchange he took care of his business elsewhere. The library really is the perfect place for a cat. Nice, and quiet perfect for the napping. Who is the lavender girl’s mother? Must be an important person for them to speak of her that way. Could she be a queen, or perhaps one of the fated deities? He never really understood any of that stuff.

He stretched hanging over the edge of the shelf he was laying on. An adventure would be nice for a time. But then again no one takes a cat with them. House cats are usually put in a permanent dwelling. He hadn’t really seen a familiar in ages, so he assumed they weren’t really used anymore. He wondered how they would react to him speaking. You would assume in a world like this it wouldn’t be shocking, but who knows. He yawned, and continued to watch the exchange.

Hands moved up and she twirled her lavender colored hair. Her sapphire colored eyes were scanning a page in a book. She was laying on the table in the library. It was opened to the public in a way most libraries were not. Though the librarian was protective over her collection she seemed to look away from the young royalty who lounged on the table.

The girl rolled and her dark blue dress seemed to  wide around her body. She sighed as she lifted the book over her head. Her eyes stared at the pages and she let a deep  frown come to her face. “What is Adeluna like?”

“It's in the book.” The librarian's words were short with the young girl.

“Really like. I know that books can paint a pretty picture when it's not the reality,” those were big girl words coming from such a tiny body. Those young blue eyes moved over and looked towards the woman reading her own book.

“Please don't bend the book like that,” she seemed to not be engaged as Sapphire sat back up with the book. “Ask your mother. She would know better than I would.”

Tilting her head she let all of her lavender curls fall to that side. “Sure she would know but I want to hear it from someone else.” The librarian put a hand up and shushed her. Moaning she fell back on the table and rolled to put the book down and turn the page. Propping herself up she stared at the pages. She was learning about the Godslayer war in Pravpora. She was learning about everything she possibly could. Someday she was going to travel the lands and learn.

She was going to be a scholar.
