Nerezza chuckled a bit and shook her head. “I could never be one hundred percent my mother. She is another creature when threatened. I am more to my Shira roots when I get threatened and I am not please about that… but mother? She is as destructive as my father when something threatens her domain. The stories I’ve heard and what I’ve witnessed tells me that something dark lingers in her heart. The difference between Nemesis Shira and Angela Rose, is that one can hide it with flowers and smiles.” She sensed that in her mother even more now that she had all these children, was it a motherly instinct?

The white haired woman had been a prodigy even in the womb. She had almost killed her brother and even had dropped her mother to her knees many times during the pregnancy. She was almost certain she should have been more evil, but thanks to love and support from those around her she broke out of her very early Shiran start. Still Nerezza wasn’t bothered by bodies or by gore. She had her limits that was for sure but she could stand to see murder in progress. “We will fine it again.”

Deep gold eyes stared up at him and nodded. “I think they will be fine. Lucian is more preoccupied with his own life and Mother is all about opportunity. I think she might have seen this coming as soon as she gave us the mansion to borrow for the time being. She is not a dumb woman. She merely left the duty to Father to decide what to do with us, I’m sure. I do hope we can find Aaryona and tell her. I would love to have the Draconis attend our wedding.”

There was a deep shame in her eyes knowing her father had a small part in her brother’s death. “I feel like we owe it to her. Even if she had to stab our brother in his heart anyways, father did push for it.” She had known for a while now, it wasn’t a big secret. “Nathaniel wasn’t a bad man from what I could tell. Before the illness set in and what my aunt did to him was wrong. It turned him into a monster. Sometimes we just have to try and right the wrongs of the past. Even if I can’t bring Thaniel back I can at least tell Aaryona I’m sorry. I know it put strain on her and mother for years.”

This was politics at this point. “Aaryona has her own faction still. If the Draconis are still whole, and I suspect somehow they are, we need to make up with them. I don’t want her to hate my father.”

It hadn’t been hard for him to notice how different the two siblings had been treated by the court. Had it been fair? No, but he had understood why Lucian had seemed to be the preferred child over Nerezza given the rarity of sons. And because of the ties with the Shira, Nemesis or more so Raeguel, had known that she couldn’t inherit her father’s place in that family.  But she had a gift more natural than a title of heir, a wonderful one that was snatched away from her and he would help return it to its owner. “Perhaps one day he will find his path if that’s no longer an option.”

“You have your mother’s beauty and some of her attitude, but there’s more to you than just merely that.” There was no doubting either one, but Nerezza was not Angela. She was her own person, with her own strengths and weaknesses. She was wildly and free and that was perhaps the thing that had attracted him to her the most. She was fearless, even standing up to her own father, a man who had slew numerous men and had faced countless armies and hunters in his time and yet was rendered into a docile teddy bear when it came to her. Kaiser could see why he was soft with his daughter; it was rather difficult to be stern or upset with her, he had found out soon enough.

He couldn’t help but to smile as she praised and reassured him. Perhaps she was right; that the bond had been formed not from pure attraction to one another, but to how well they were synced on a magical level. He was the teacher yet was amazed by how talented and powerful she had been from the first day they met. Sure, she needed a little refining here or there but Nerezza was a quick study. “We will have the bond again, I swear it. Even if we have to start from scratch”, he replied. The concept of the marriage didn’t make him afraid; he knew that sooner or later he would be wedded to another to strengthen his house and likely the one he was marrying to. The fact that it had been her that was sworn to him did bring comfort in his spirits- while Kaiser didn’t mind doing his duty, he didn’t wish to be in a loveless marriage. At least here he had someone he felt for and was felt for back. He felt her pulling his arms around her and didn’t resist her. His lips pressed against her head as he engulfed her scent as it mingled with his own from the closeness. “It doesn’t matter to me how long it takes, as long as we have the blessing of those that mean the most to you, Nerezza. Surely your mother and brother will not mind me coming into the family like your father had.”

Nerezza nodded knowing that was indeed the truth behind why she was hidden. “Papa has always been worried about my role in life if Lucian’s is to take over… but now that we have all these siblings suddenly I wonder if Lucian will continue to be the heir or if one of the elder siblings will take it from him. I worry about him but I can’t help but think he would be happy to be released from his duty as heir.”

The princess laughed and snuggled into him. “If I was not rebellious I would be nothing like my mama. She is quite different than she tends to appear. She isn’t one to stretch things or lie. I was actually quite surprised to find the soft side of her beneath her duties, now that she is a goddess she seems much more open about it.”

When they kissed it was like fire on her lips. They were free to do whatever they wanted now that they were engaged. They did not have to fear what her mama or papa would do to them and it pleased her very much so to be in control of her own destiny. She gave Kaiser a troubled look as she thought about it. “I do think you are a good enough. You are more than qualified on the noble level but it’s not just all that. Your spirit shines brightly and your magic when we practice together flows with mine in a way I’ve never had before. I may be young but I’ve used my magic around countless others. To be honest, I miss my magic the most because of the bond I feel our magic has together.”

She put her forehead against his and smiled. “It happened fast but I think we’ll have a long engagement or short if that’s what we decide. I know that it will be made a spectacle of but that’s fine as long as you are there.” She snuggled up to him after that and wrapped his arms around her body.

“I see. It could have been because it is rare for children to be had by vampires, and from a lineage like the Shira, they might have feared that the bloodlines might become tainted.” Kaiser wasn’t trying to be rude, but understanding of the situation. Their births had been precious but also something that could have been seen as an act against nature to those that disapproved of them. Raeguel had probably feared for their safety while little and sought to keep them away if only to spare them of anyone’s wrath. At this point, if someone was to threaten Nerezza… Kaiser could feel himself shaking a bit in anger over such a thought and immediately ceased and calmed himself.

Her words spoke the truth and Kaiser had to admit that the traditional rules that he was used to didn’t exactly apply to these parts of the world. “Perhaps. I just didn’t want to put you in a compromising position, dear princess. I am sorry for that.” He felt her hands against his own and smiled widely. It was still a bit strange to be so open with their affections for one another, but he suppose that in time he would get over it. She herself seemed very content and he was grateful for the gift that her father had gave to them. He couldn’t imagine how much pain it might have caused her to not be allowed to be with him. “Things in the world works in mysterious ways, my dear. No one can really control fate- not your father or mother, nor you or I. We merely go with what is given to us and hope for the best.”

Kaiser looked to her, knowing too well what it was like for feeling powerless without magic at their fingertips. He also believe though that it was not to be permanent. He was sure that they would rekindle it back into their possessions. There had to be some way of doing so and he wouldn’t rest until it was found. “You should be used to it; you are the daughter of a Rose Queen. Though I must admit you do have a rebellious side and do not follow the norm. Not that I mind, of course. It merely makes you unique in a faceless crowd.” She was a bit like her mother, from what he had gathered through the few encounters they had. It was there that he was reminded that Angela would likely be the last to know of their engagement. Heavens knew how a goddess would take the news, but given how the Rosenites were, she wouldn’t like be against the decision. Kaiser was a bit nervous about it, but he was also excited as well.

When they kissed, it had been innocent yet satisfying too. He was somewhat amused by her reaction; the young woman was hardly ever speechless. He had only saw it once she confronted her father and that was a rare thing in of itself. The vampire didn’t exactly believe his own behavior either, but it was a long time coming. Pent up feelings had to be let out sooner or later, it could be held back forever. “Are you sure I am good enough? I care about what you thought of all this. I…do want this. Perhaps it all happened too fast, but I think it’s the best course for the both of us.”

Nerezza smiled up at Kaiser and shrugged her shoulders innocently. “Probably due to the fact our magic was zapped away. I’m sure it will come back someday.” Listening intently to his words she hummed softly, and albeit quietly. “He has always been protective of us. He would never let us go to the Shira house when we were little. He was worried we would be hurt by those who did not approve of our birth.” She held onto his hand and smiled softly.

The princess nodded and laughed. “I do admit in the eyes of everyone outside of Arri it would be terrible but in Arri, it is rather normal.” Thinking on it she chuckled. “Perhaps it is because we won’t often find people here.” She held onto both of his hands and stroked them gently. “My mother has always been open. I know that she tried to manipulate the situation when she ended up pregnant with us, but she was in pain. I couldn’t imagine losing my brother, actually being alive during that. I can see the pain in her eyes still about it.”

She remembered what her mother had told her, that originally her parents never thought someone would be good enough for her or Lucian. They were children of beauty, and social standing. Nerezza lightly blushed at his words. “I’ve never had someone other than my papa and mama say that.” Sure servants might have but they didn’t really have emotional ties to her, they more so had to her brother.

Her gold eyes drifted down and she found herself staring at her hands. Hands that use to be able to weave magic along with her mind. It made her sigh a bit but his words were helpful. His words made her blush and it all lead up to the kiss they had. She chuckled at him and smiled, “I am also a Rosenites. My mama isn’t exactly the most modest person in the entire world. I just also happen to know the world is extremely lonely.”

Finally he kissed her and she almost forgot to breathe, which was weird for her. It was gentle and not nearly as needy as the other girls claimed kissing could be. She sat there with a dazed look on her face. “My papa once told my mama that no one would ever be good enough for my brother and myself, because we’re creature of standing and beauty.” She blushed a bit. “I’m glad that, that wasn’t entirely true. I’m also glad that Papa is understanding about what I want. I’m just glad it’s what you want as well.”

“Think the link has been broken for some reason?”, Kaiser inquired with a raised brow. He knew of the connection between Nerezza and her father; but with the changes Raeguel went through, he could see if that had to do with that. “You know your father only wanted the best for you, right? Even when he was Nemesis, you and your brother were his world, and anyone be damned should they had cause you two harm.” There was so much stress that lingered on her for years and he was amazed that no one had sensed it before now. “I think he would have been proud no matter what path you went on.” Kaiser nodded in agreement though as he thought about the elder’s state of mind now. Coming to this world may have been sudden, but in some ways it seemed to have been better for all of them.

Hearing her address him as her love again nearly made his heart skip a beat again. It was still a bit strange for him to hear the young woman say that but it was also satisfying. That was something else he had been apparently oblivious to her advances as well. Or perhaps there was some recognition, some feeling inside him that knew she was trying to get his attention in that regard but had been too worried about it to return the affection. It also was why the gossip had begun around the same time. “Yes, I know. I merely wanted to keep our relationship purely professional since it would have been improper for us to go through a tryst.” He looked at her, knowing that she was fair and beautiful woman but he hadn’t tried to think of impure thoughts whenever he was around her. It had been hard for him to be around her and not think of her as that young girl that had a thirst for knowledge and wanted to get stronger. But recently he had seen her in a fair different light, especially now as he gazed at her.

“The engagement was a good idea, and I will take care of you until my dying breath.” His words rang true; there was no seed of deception in him nor did he dare to think that there would be lust to steer him in the wrong direction. They shared bits and pieces of affection with one another, genuine happiness between them settled amongst the awkward morning they had. “Perhaps you will gain it back in full strength at some point, or it could continue to fizzle down. Either way, we can find a solution together.” He nuzzled his head against hers, “Oh I know, it’s like what I told you before. I didn’t care about my welfare, I was too worried about you, but I couldn’t put a finger on it as to why for the longest time until recently. And even then, I wasn’t sure if it was true or not, but I know now”

Kaiser smiled widely but then she struck before he knew what happened. The kiss came as a complete surprise as he blinked at her. When she broke it off, he noticed her reaction and wondered if that was her first kiss. His hands squeezed at hers tenderly and he playfully huffed at the accusation of him “freaking out” on her every time she would do something to test his virtue. “You are royalty, my dearest. Of course I was expecting you to be mannerly, and I wasn’t expecting you to…desire me in such a way”, he spoke sheepishly midway through. Before she could respond, he moved in laid a kiss upon her lips, one that lasted longer than before. His unneeded breathing grew heavy as soon as he pulled away. “You make it damn hard to be good though”, he chuckled at her lovingly.

Rosenites were some of the only nobles were didn’t tend to marry their children off. Though it wasn’t completely unheard of either. There were always little cases and causes for celebration when two houses joined. In this aspect, she supposed that her father was more traditional when it came to other noble others. Her mother wouldn’t be upset but more so happy that Nerezza was pleased with the choice even if she was young. After all Angela had been married young.

“I use to be able to see within his thoughts back before we came here.” Nerezza said softly. “I was so blinded by the fact that I wanted to be the Shira’s golden child. Even if they wouldn’t accept me. It’s much easier to live without that hanging over me now.” She chuckled a bit. “Papa has changed a lot here and for the better.”

He moved her so that they could stare into each other’s eyes. She tilted her head and gave him a sad smile. “And I was not about to let the man I love get in trouble either. I had tried so hard to get your attention and stay your focus that it became too visible to the others. I can not apologize for it now that we are engaged, which is the best possibly outcome for our situation.”

She held onto his hands and smiled more as she brought his hands up and kissed both of them. After that was done she pressed her forehead against his and gave him a kind smile. It was warm and much like the one her mother worn when she was truly happy. “If it wasn’t for my magic being fizzled I would have searched for you. I would have looked high and low. I would do so every time I was given the choice.”

A smile crossed her face again as she leaned in and pressed her lips to his for a tiny second. A blush crossed her cheeks as she withdrew. “I feel the same. You are the best person I could have ever wanted to be paired with.” It was funny how her father had said no man would ever be good enough but yet there was someone Nerezza found to be.

She held onto his hands and stayed close to him. “Feels odd yet good to be this close without you freaking out on me and telling me to be a lady.” She teased him softly trying to make the awkwardness of the moment go away.

As Nerezza joined him in the conversation, he sat and watched her with keen interest. "That is true- if I had known, I would have likely dismissed myself for it wouldn't have been appropriate for me to carry on such an affair with you while being your mentor. I wouldn't want it to seem like I was taking advantage of you…" Not to mention what her parents would have done to him if he had carried on such a thing with their precious daughter. She went to the window for a bit while Kaiser stroked his chin in thought. Perhaps she was more ready for all this than he had thought.

She already knew so much for someone so young- Nerezza easily had the knowledge of women several times her age, or at least that's the impression he was getting from her. Surprising him would be no feat at all for her, not with the many times she had so far. Such thought stirred some soft chuckles from him before a serious look came over his face. He could understand where her father was coming from, and with the engagement they had, they were bonded. They weren't student and teacher anymore- they were a man and woman woven together by a promise of eternity together. He hadn't planned at all to get married so soon and typically marriages in his family were not unlike that of other noble houses'. Many were arranged from birth, but he was one of the "lucky" ones that hadn't been planned out just yet. He pondered if Raeguel paired them up because they were so compatible or out of convenience. Given the circumstances, it was hard to differentiate between the two.

"I can't tell what was going through his head, but we can do nothing more than to trust his decision."

Kaiser leaned towards Nerezza and shook his head in disdain, "Nonsense. I wouldn't have it happen. It wasn't your fault at all." His hands took hold to move her off of him and have the young woman into his eyes. "I wasn't going to let you get into any trouble. I'd rather I take whatever punishment he would have dealt instead of you. This goes beyond my chivalry; I care for you deeply." The hands moved onto her own and held them together tightly. His eyes looked onto her eyes deeply and he moved to plant his forehead gently onto her own. "I always have from the moment we greeted each other, and each day it became harder to see you as just a mere student. And after we separated and I was in the wilderness in this world, I thought of nothing greater than you being safe and sound. And then when you found and nursed me to health, the feeling only strengthen. Nerezza, your father couldn't have found me a better person than you, not in this world or any other "

Nerezza was silently gripping onto his arm. She had tried to convince her father to be happy. The white hair of the princess rested against her fiancee. Her golden eyes looked around to all of the jealous faces. It pleased her but also at the same time did not like the way the females looked at him like they could take him. The wedding wasn’t just a choice but also an ordered. This marriage was to be happy or if it wasn’t that could be a problem.

She looked up at Kaiser and gave him a smile. Nerezza was a smart girl and being raised along side her other siblings gave her insight to how to be happy. In the beginning she thought she couldn’t feel but it was just her trying to be too much like her father’s evil persona.  Things had changed since then and the Rosenite was much more happy along side her family.

Once they got back to the manor she greeted the servants and headed upstairs with her now lover, as it would seem. She stood in the center of the room and looked around as she waited for the silence to break. Though he was the first one to break it. She tilted her hair and looked at him as he lounged. “If you had… things would have been much different Kaiser.” Her words were low as she walked over to the window to look out it.

Turning her gaze back to him, she smiled and nodded. “That’s the way to win a man’s heart says mother. Be unpredictable and have endless amounts of ways to amaze him. It wouldn’t matter even if I wasn’t ready,” there was a heavy  sigh, “Papa wouldn’t have waited. We are in this together now.” She moved over to him as he patted the couch.

She sat down by him and put her head on his shoulder again. “Though, when I found the letter the worst did cross my mind. I was going to tell him it was all my fault but by the time I had gotten there… You told him it was all your fault.” She chuckled a bit. “I couldn’t have chosen a better man to have been paired with.”

Today didn't end the way Kaiser had thought it would. Not only was he still left breathing, but through the twists and turns of how the meeting between him, Raeguel and Nerezza went left him in a result no one but apparently that crafty man had seen. He looked to his arm where his newly proclaimed bride to be was, holding on him tightly as they walked down to where the manor was. Those that knew of the two were already whispering between one another, suspicions that had been made seem to be true now that they were bearing it with their own eyes. Some of the women seemed jealous of the young princess, and the men were of him, but he didn't pay to much attention to them. Nay, there was much to be discussed, and he wished for the matter to be private with just the two of them. Would it play out that way, he didn't exactly know but there was hope.

As they entered, he led her through the sea of speechless servants and other inhabitants and went upstairs to the head to the study. Once there, he shut and locked the door before heading over to a nearby couch and fell back first against it. His head tilted up towards the ceiling as if he was trying to make sense of it all. It still felt like a dream to him, even though he was sure by now that this was their reality. He had sworn to protect her and guide her, which he did and now they were to be wed because of unresolved feelings each had. His eyes drifted over to her before he sat up intensively. "My la…Nerezza, I feel foolish for not seeing the signs…", he started before scratching the back of his head. Heaven knew what he would have done if he placed one and one together ahead of time. Most likely he would have rescued himself from remaining her teacher and staying here. It had seemed so wrong to have thought of her the way he had over the last few weeks.

It was improper and yet he couldn't help it, and apparently neither could she. Had she truly meant what she said? Did she actually love him? He shook his head, of course she must have meant it. Nerezza was many things, but a liar she was not. "Ever since we met, you have found a way to surprise me, just when I think you have shown everything to me. I must admit I was speechless when you said what you had. I just hope you are ready for all of this now. The path before us is intertwined and woven together. I'm still amazed at the outcome, but I can not say I'm disappointed by it", he spoke with a smile as he patted at the unoccupied side of the couch for her to join him.
