Having left Cora in charge of the others Luna had gone to hunt for the children; the journey had been fairly painless but utterly terrifying for the little family. The twins had cried themselves to sleep and Zion had taken up the mantle of watching over his siblings in true brotherly fashion; he was so much like his Father that it almost broke Luna’s heart to look at her son but given everything that had happened she was glad of him as well.
With Marius gone Luna’s entire world had come crashing down around her - having opted to remain in Myna with her husband and her children she had said her goodbye’s to her Father and sister and turned away from them; she had argued with Kaya over the pursuit of chasing after their Mother, the woman had gone why not just live a quiet life without her… but apparently Kaya could not let it go, apparently she worried that Raith (who had also gone missing though Luna had been somewhat glad of the lack of his presence) would hurt their Mother and she could not allow that.
Their family was, for lack of a better word, dysfunctional in Luna’s eyes - it was one of the many reasons that she had chosen to remain behind when her Father and sister had chosen to leave their home to find their Mother. Father going to find his wife made sense; Luna understood why he needed to find her (they knew she was alive thanks to her Bond with Valandil), if it had been Marius she would have done the same thing and while it broke her heart to know that she would never see him again she had given her blessing to him… Kaya on the other hand she hadn’t. Raith had been angry his whole life; out of the three of them he was the most distant from the family but Kaya and Luna had been close once - until this ridiculous need to find their brother and Mother had taken over her sister’s life. Kaya had spent her life actively trying to be anyone other than their Mother and yet, as Luna had pointed out, the minute she could have finally been free of the woman for good Kaya was running to find her… Kaya had not been happy with this conclusion from her sister and Luna had not appreciated being told that she wasn’t thinking about the family - it was because of her family that she would not leave… another little dig which she had jabbed at Kaya with before her sister’s departure that she now regretted heavily.
When Marius had died Luna had been alone; she had the children of course but no other family to fall back on, she had been frightened, alone and desperate… so what else could she do other than follow in the footsteps of the others and seek out their Gods? They had been strangely gentle with the young mother and her four children - when Luna had come to the Conclave with the children in tow, her face blotchy from her constant crying they had taken pity on her without her even needing to say a word. They had offered to send her to the same world they had sent the rest of her family; they would send her around the same time they had sent Kaya and Pol but they could not guarantee that she would end up close to them in terms of distance - she did not care, so long as she was in the same world she would find them… how long it took was inconsequential so long as she was no longer alone.

The island they had found themselves on was… odd to say the least. Having found a hollow within the rainforest where her children could be kept out of sight Luna had reverted to her Dragon form (something she did only in extreme measures) and flown above the canopy of the forest where her extremely sharp eyes had seen… four separate seasons all clustered to this one island in distinctive areas. Myna had always be a wonder to her; it had its own unique areas but this? Well… this was something entirely new to the woman.
Turning on a wingtip she had turned her attention to finding food for herself and her children; it didn’t take Luna long to find and take down a grizzly bear about the size of a deer and she immediately headed back to her children; conscious of leaving them for too long.
”Mama mama!” Cora cried happily as she spotted her Mother returning, jumping up and down excitedly as she hurried out of the cover of the trees to meet the Draconic form of Luna. ”Look mama look what I found!” She exclaimed triumphantly, thrusting her hands out in front of her to show off the large ruby she had found.
”Where did you find it sweetling?” Luna cooed, transforming into her Elven form once more so that she could kiss her daughter upon her forehead.
”In the flowers over there.” Cora replied, tucking the ruby under one arm to point at the base of one of the entwined trees where Luna had left them sheltered. ”There’s loads of sparkly things all over mama - I wanted to get some more but Zion got all bossy and said I had to stay close.” The girl muttered.
”Don’t sulk Cora it’s not becoming of a girl your age.” Luna chided her daughter gently as she began to steer her back to the shelter of the entwined trees - the bear left to one side for a moment so that she could deal with the children first. ”And Zion was right you do need to stay close; we don’t know this place yet and we don’t know how dangerous it may be.” She added, looking over her shoulder as she felt a shiver down her spine.
Rolling her eyes at her Mother Cora chose to ignore her. ”Can I keep it?” She asked.
”I think ya should hand it over to us little girl.” A voice interjected before Luna was given a chance to say anything.

Pulling her daughter behind her naked frame the woman’s usually timid demeanour immediately vanished at the prospect of danger towards her offspring. She heard Cora whimper but she had no time to comfort her daughter nor did she have any intention of taking her eyes off the man slinking into their vicinity with others behind him… she had not caught his scent before now - the sell of blood from her kill still filled her nostrils and they were downwind of her… clever hunters it appeared. ”Cora, stay with your siblings.” Luna instructed her eldest quietly, pushing the girl away from her slightly without taking her eyes away from the man.
Cora hurried away from her Mother, fear in her eyes as she clung to her ruby and immediately vanished beneath the roots of the trees where her family had a makeshift den - from within came a small voice demanding to know what was going on (Zion immediately taking charge despite being younger than his sister) followed by adamant shushing that told Luna that her daughter was trying to reign in her sibling.
”Come now pretty lady. Hadn’t you best hand over that pretty treasure your little girl has? Or we could have fun with you instead and then take it by force if you like?” The man continued, his eyes scanning her naked frame with a wicked smile upon his face.
”You will get one warning.” Luna replied sternly, her voice dark and her grey eyes - once calm and collected now a raging storm. ”Leave now, leave my family alone and do not turn back or you will face my wrath.” She continued.
The man and his companions laughed at her and Luna snarled - the mild mannered woman wouldn’t normally be so bold but if she had inherited anything from her Mother it was her maternal nature and nothing would stop her from protecting her children. ”Oh miss I don’t think you understand the position you’re in!” The man continued.
”No. It’s is you who does not understand.” Luna snarled, her form twisting until once more she was the beautiful, white scaled Dragoness she had been on her hunt - oh she preferred her wolf form, being the Daddy’s girl that she was but this form was far more effective in situations such as this. ”Try it now.” The Dragoness snarled, lowering her head and her body to shield the makeshift den from sight.
”Ha! Get her lads! Her and her kids will make a nice profit once they’ve been chopped up! Today seems to be our lucky day!” The man laughed, drawing his sword and pointing it at Luna. ”Today will be your last; you should have just handed over that ruby…”

Was there a way off this blasted island? Veda had finally captured the stupid broom that had taken her here in the first place. But she could not get it to fly with her on it. The broom would fly around without her but simply refused to be flown by a person. Why were brooms so complicated? It was as if the object had been spelled to have a personality. The humidity of the rain forest caused her curly hair to become frizzy. This wasn't the first rain forest she had entered but the way that the place made her hair more scratchy was annoying. The demon realized that the old woman would probably be wondering why she was gone. It would be difficult to explain to the lady that her broom was a magical flying object. Plants were everywhere. Veda couldn't move without touching one.

The denseness of the foliage made her feel cozy, despite the massive space the rain forest truly filled. Hundreds of birds, insects, and mammals sung together with their caws and growls. Dew gathered on leaves in large drops the size of blueberries. The rain forest was at peace. Her eyes had only closed for a moment before she realized that the forest had gone quiet. Perking up her ears, she tried to discover the reason why. Some people were chattering in the distance. Holding onto the magical broom, she sneaked closer to the scene. A group of hunters had gathered around a dragon. Veda had little interest in the scene but the swords that the hunters were carrying did interest her. She wanted to see if she could eat it.

"BROOM ATTACK!" The demon shouted as she launched the broom at one of the men attacking the dragon.

The broom seemed to be speeding up on its own and almost appeared to be flying. The handle of the broom hit one of the men right between his legs. Where his….personal parts were. Dropping his sword, the man fell to the ground in deep pain. Veda unsheathed her dagger and threw it at another man. Missing entirely. Instead the dagger hit a tree instead. Disappointment was not strong enough to describe her feelings about this. Some of the hunters faced her while others faced the dragon.

"A demon?!" One of the hunters said, "The demon must be working with that blasted dragon!"

Veda lifted up her right arm. A swirl of gold magic surrounded her arm as it transformed into a bear arm. This arm was significantly stronger than her demon arm, although the claws were a bit shorter. Her bear arm curled into a fist as she punched one of the hunters in the face. The hunter's sword slashed a bit of her arm but the injury was not deep. Veda was focused on finding a way to punch all the hunters in the face with her bear arm. Her broom was flying around and hitting hunters in the eye with its handle. The demon was having fun rather than focusing on saving anybody.

The men surrounded the Dragoness on all sides, swinging swords, shooting at her with arrows and jabbing at her with spears. Luna hissed and spat at them, baring her fangs as she flared her wings and stomped her feet at them - they had not left her much room to move and despite her natural instincts to protect her children the Dragoness was reluctant to hurt them; she had hoped that the threat of being squashed or eaten by a Dragon might have been enough of a deterrent but apparently she had underestimated these men and their greed.
Swinging her tail in warning she screeched at them as one sliced across her hind right leg with his spear; the sharp blade cutting between her scales and into the flesh. Angry now she kicked out with her leg, sending the man flying away from her until he hit a tree with a sickening (yet somewhat satisfying) crunch.

”Don’t you DARE!” Cora hissed from within the safety of the tree roots, her fingers clenching a tuft of her brother’s pelt tightly as he stalked towards the entrance, the young girl’s eyes flickering to the two wolf pups now huddled together and shaking in fear. ”Let mama handle it! We have to look after Ivan and Petra.” She hissed.
”YOU look after them, mama needs help.” Zion snarled in return, his ice blue eyes flashing angrily at his older sister who merely stuck her tongue out at him as she began to transform herself - choosing her Dragon form like her mother had rather than the wolf like her brother.
Rolling his eyes at the red scaled Dragon now curling round the two frightened wolf pups he shot out from between the roots, snarling menacingly as he pounced at one of the men who was sneaking up behind his mother with a mace. Sharp fangs chomped down on the man’s arm and he screamed loudly - alerting Luna to the fact that her son had joined the fray.
”ZION DON’T! She screamed, swing her tail at the men around her in her panic to turn and shield her child.
Despite his mother’s warning Zion was too busy grappling with the man he had bitten, scratching at the man’s body with his back claws as he kept hold of his arm… though he did not spot the man sneaking up behind him with a dagger… Yelping in pain he relinquished his grip of the first man and collapsed to the floor whimpering…. Which was when the Demon with the broom appeared.

Luna blinked in confusion for a moment at the bizarre war cry not to mention the odd choice of weapon the Demon was using before her senses returned and she spotted her wounded son. Screaming angrily she was grateful to see a red scaled head pop out from between the tree roots - there was a tut, a roll of the eyes and Cora grabbed her brother by the scruff of his neck and pulled his limp body back into the safety, chastising him telepathically all the while.
With her son safe once more Luna let loose the anger that had built within her; screaming angrily she swept her claws at the men - no longer caring if she hurt them or otherwise, her only thoughts now were to protect her children, get rid of these men and ensure she didn’t catch the demon while she was fighting back.
Some of the men had begun to run but the one who had led the group into the fight in the first place still remained. ”Come on you cowards!” He snarled… but it was to be his last words. Head swinging around Luna did not hesitate to bring her jaws down upon him, wincing as she felt his sword cut into the side of her mouth as she crunched down upon him, drowning out his screams.

With their leader gone the rest of the men lost their nerve, turning and fleeing from the scene. Luna remained in her Dragon form for a moment, ensuring that they had gone before she looked over at the Demon. ”Thank you so much for your help… I don’t know what we would have done without you.” She said softly before transforming back to her Elven form once more. Looking at the other woman for a moment Luna gave her a small, weak smile before she turned and hurried to the trees where both her clothes and her children waited. ”Zion! Come here.” She cried softly as she hurriedly pulled her dress over her head before opening her arms to her son. ”You silly silly boy! What were you thinking?!” She sobbed as tentative fingers looked at the wound on the young boy’s side. ”I need to find some herbs to put on this to stop infection… I can’t believe you were so reckless.”
”I only wanted to help mama… I’m sorry.” He sobbed in return.
”I know my heart, I know.” Luna whispered, kissing his forehead as she held him close. ”Cora? Are the twins ok?”
”They’re fine mama, a little scared but they’re ok.” The young girl called back from within the trees.

Looking back at the Demon once more Luna wiped her tears from her eyes. ”I’m sorry, I’m being so rude to you. My name is Luna Silverheart; these are my children Cora and Zion and the twins are Ivan and Petra. We owe you our lives.”

At the sound of the dragon screaming, Veda's demonic ears folded back to block out the sound. Hunters around them temporarily put their hands to their ears to stop the loud sound from obliterating their ears. She took this small opportunity to punch a few more people with her bear arm. Careful to stay out of the dragoness' way, she continued punching people in the face until the battle was over. When the hunters fled she checked her body and found a few scratches and bruises from the fight. Her arm returned to normal and the demon quickly realized she wouldn't be able to use magic for a while.

The demon's attention turned to the corpses on the ground. Veda went to some of the corpses to search them for any supplies. A couple of swords, a bow, arrows, a picture, and some other stuff was taken from the lifeless bodies. She took all of the shoes of the dead hunters. The shoes would be useful for chewing on. The clothes were too bloodstained to be of any use. After stuffing all of these items in her back, she looked up to notice that the mother was speaking to her.

"Yeah." The demon responded, not knowing what else to say.

That was two thank you's in one day. Thank you. A word that hardly was ever said to her. It was still strange hearing it come from strangers. Veda still didn't know how to respond. She made her way over to where the kids and the mother was. The demon stayed a safe distance away from the kids, seeing as she wanted to be respectful to the mother. She knew from personal experience that it was best to stay away from other people's kids. Unless you wanted scars on your face.

Plopping down on the ground, she began cleaning her demon claws with her tongue. It appeared that one of the children was hurt. An idea popped into the demon's mind. Veda went through her back and took out a wooden box. The wooden box was a medicinal kit for emergencies that she had looted off one of the hunter's bodies. She tossed the box over to the mother.

"This has cloth in it. And other stuff." Veda said, "I don't know how to use it but it might be helpful…..I'm Veda. Can you fly?"

She was careful to ask this time. Earlier, the demon had assumed that an angel could fly. The angel couldn't fly and that taught her to ask before assuming of a person's abilities.
