Melina stared at his face for a long time, she was sad to see the smile and content look go away. She snuggled into him as he spoke and nodded her head. She thought about his words and even took his hands. “You’ve done what you’ve needed to or what your mind has told you to. I can’t fault you for your past, but I can love you for who you’ve become. I just want to make sure I know everything. I want to make sure that I can support you even when you go through rough times. I can’t if I don’t know.”
She gripped his hands to her and brought them to her lips before crawling up to kiss his lips. “You are special to me, I don’t want to lose that. I would rather hear it from you instead of the twins or Angela. This is something for us to discuss.” She gave him a smile before nuzzling his neck gently.
“I want to take care of you and heal your heart.” She was trying to be as softly spoken as possible.
The door cracked open and Nerezza popped in her head. “Mama wants to know if you two are better.” Her words kinda fell flat as she looked at them. Melina pulled the blanket up on her more as a blush crossed her face. “Told you,” Nerezza said just as flat as she closed the door. “HEY MAMA GUESS WHAT.”
Melina groaned a bit as she hid her face in Raeguel’s chest. “Can we leave? Can we get outside of the temple where that doesn’t happen? They’ll be gossiping for weeks.”

He was as gentle as possible without also being awkward at the same time. Raeguel had worried that he would hurt Melina or do something that didn’t feel right for her. But soon his fears melted away as they embraced one another, taking their time with the pace. There was no need for a rush, in a way he suppose that they both needed this. Before now, sex had been nothing more than a weapon he could wield, to dangle over the heads of women he knew wanted to be dominated by him or simply to make them think that they would find themselves in a higher standing with him. But for the first time in ages, he actually enjoy the pleasures it brought and saw it as kindling two souls together through physical means. He was satisfied and proud that he hadn’t harm her through any of it, in fact she seemed just as spent but also happy with what just happened. The vampire was in a slight daze as he brought an arm around her, feeling her slender body against his own. The warmth from her felt strange against his cool form but at the same time, it felt pleasant. Either by ignorance or him simply uncaring about the door, he hadn’t thought about it being unlocked at the time or even now for that matter. There was a moment of bliss for him that started to show so cracks once she asked him about his past. A slight frown came over his lips, it was a strange request and one that he wasn’t keen on reliving in his head. But Melina did deserve to know what he had done back in those dark times. “A past isn’t easy to let go of, least of all someone’s like mine. I’ve been bitten twice; the first happened countless years ago back when I first became a knight. The second was after I meet with a goddess I fell in love with. She challenged me and upon passing her test, she gave me the bloodline that courses through mine veins as well of that of my children’s. I was at my most mad state of mind, but it seemed that I had always had a problem finding some sort of stability after the first turning. It really peaked when I lost my first love and the justice that should had happened never came so I took it upon myself to do, but I lost whatever humanity remained in me after that. The rest…I’d already told you about the killing and pillaging I’ve done…

Melina did her best to calm his nerves, and she could tell that there were a lot of them. Many of them probably had been pushed done for a long time, but she did trust him and that meant soothing them. She wanted to be selfish with him but it was also hard for her to realize that he had children just a tad younger than herself and if it wasn’t accepted by their mother of all people she would have been uncomfortable with their relationship advancing. The last person she wanted upset in the world was Angela after the goddess had done so much for her family. Raeguel was quickly becoming her own family as well, perhaps someday her own family. She pushed the thought from her mind as she struggled with getting the man to open up.
The clergy member could only think of a few ways to make the man more comfortable with her. This was going to be hard for him she imagined. Through the kissing, she could also taste his hesitation with her. It must have been hard thinking you would break the one you loved, but she wanted to soothe that. She thought giving him control was just what he needed and sure enough it seemed to be the push Raeguel needed to go further. She wanted him to understand she wasn’t a delicate flower. She wouldn’t break easily, at least in her mind.
Any clear thoughts she had soon left her as they kissed. It was the very first time she had let pleasure get in the way of what she did at the temple, even with her lady’s blessings. Hazel eyes watched as he undressed, if she had even seen him with his shirt off before it wasn’t viewed in the same manner. This was something new. At his words, she put her forehead to his and gave a loving smile. She would take care of his heart with all of her years.
It was intoxicating to have him about her, let alone kissing down her. The woman didn’t even grip onto any restraints she might have had and just let go. She knew that if she went too far, maybe too fast, he would get her to calm down.
–
Their time together seemed dizzying at best to her. She hadn’t felt something like that and seemed rather content that it had been Raeguel to show her. Laying about his chest she twirled his long white hair and smiled to herself. He had been gentle and there wasn’t much he had to fear from her, she wasn’t strong enough if he resisted.
She pulled a blanket back up onto the bed and stared at him for a moment or two before covering them up. Her mind suddenly stuck on the thought of someone walking in, her eyes looked to the unlocked door. Her fingers wrapped around his and she gently sighed as she calmed down and nuzzled into his neck.
“Tell me more about you,” Melina knew it would take a lot but she didn’t want them to hide from each other. “I don’t want to not know. Anything you’ve done before Revaliir and your time here, it doesn’t effect us.” She just wanted to know. “I know it’s a lot to ask of you. I’m not saying to tell me now but someday.”

There was still some hesitation in him; Raeguel couldn’t remember a time where he was gentle when it came to the affections of a woman. Most that he had dealt with had been him dominating or allowing himself to be. There was no genuine concern or love expressed when he had sex, yet he was worried about Melina since it seemed obvious that he was to rob her of her innocence, her purity. He felt wrong in doing so, and yet he felt the temptation strong as ever as he felt her body against his own. She agreed to him taking it easy at times, though it came with a strict stipulation, one that he had no choice but to agree to. She was surprisingly starting to get a little bossy, not that he had minded, of course. He closed his eyes and though deeply; she trusted as well as her goddess did, but…he wasn’t so sure of himself. If anything was to go any further, then he needed to be able to trust himself to be delicate with her. Whispers kept invading his mind, bickering amongst each other on whether he should proceed with this or not. The feel of her skin against his fingertips only added further to his agony. Only when her lips met with his some more did he start to relax a bit. The voices died down a little and his anxiety weaned, but he was still concerned even with her permission granted. Another kiss all but left him weak and speechless before they swap positions and the next thing he knew he was laying on top of her, making sure to not have his full weight pressing down. She trusted him entirely, and deep down, his fear faded away and he pressed his lips onto her neck, enjoying the taste of her skin which reminded him of some hint of vanilla. He moved up to her ear as his hands fell into her own and wrapped his fingers against hers. His lips kissed her again for what seemed like a lifetime before he lifted up just enough to unbutton his shirt and allowed it to fall onto the floor before leaning back down and embraced Melina again. Hands traveled about as much as he could of her, despite the dress that remained on her. “I trust you too”, he uttered in between kisses, though while she trusted him in the matters of sex, he was trusting her with his heart, still mending from the darkness. His fingers wrapped around one of her straps and slowly tugged at it as if to remove it. Raeguel kissed the exposed spots it had formerly resided and moved down her warm form, trailing it with his lips.

Melina gave him a gentle look as she wasn’t about to argue it with him. He cared about her and that made her feel good, if that meant taking a break every now and again more than she already did, then so be it. “Alright you win.” She chuckled. “But only if I spend that time with you when you are here.” She wasn’t about to not strike a deal with him.
She was awkward with him as she laid there enjoying their time together. “Sounds exciting all around though I don’t mind where we go as long as I’m with you.” Not that she had a choice but that was a truthful feeling to her. Even if they were not bonded she would say that. She took his hand and kissed each fingertip gently.
She giggled softly as she watched his eyes. “I wasn’t about to question you too much. I trust you with everything, maybe it’s because Lady Angela trusts you or maybe it is just the feeling in my gut saying you won’t hurt me.” She could have purred the way he stroked her hair. He was so gentle with her and in truth it was something she needed.
The clergy member pinned him softly against the bed even though she knew full well it wouldn’t take him much effort at all to over turn the situation. She gave him a smile as he gave in to her whim and felt his hands grace her body. It was an odd feeling but good as she leaned down and kissed him once more. “I do trust you Raeguel. I trust you to be gentle and good to me.” She said before another kiss.
She rolled the two of them and smiled up at him as he was now the one pinning her.

Raeguel stared at her for a moment, wanting to believe that Melina was playing around when she said that, but something told him that it was true and he shook his head, “Even so, there’s only so much one person can do. I’d rather you not tire yourself out, even if you are used to it by now” He was likely one to talk, but still he didn’t want her to put such strain upon herself. But as she explained why, he grew to understand it a bit more. He looked up in time to see her descend upon him before they kissed again, this time by her doing. “I’m sure you will. In time, which we have plenty of”, he chuckled back. Looking at her, Raeguel could have sworn that she looked a bit like a younger version of Andrea, his first love. But unlike other times when he would obsess over that, he had to remember that it wasn’t the reason why he was falling for her. It was Melina herself and not Andrea that he had feelings for now. She had done so much for him in a time where he didn’t deserve it and it was her gentle and understanding nature that was guiding him out of the darkness. He went with her whim and laid back first onto the bed along with her. He had some things that he had to get used to himself- mainly the intimacy they were sharing now. Had he been back in his darker times, he would have taken advantage of this, thinking little of it other than a bit of foreplay before he took to his desires. Raeguel’s mind came back to the present and looked to her. “I haven’t been there yet either. I’ve been looking about the other continent for a bit now, but I’m sure that we can stop there at some point.” He didn’t mind at all if that was her wish. Melina deserved to see what was out in the world, and these Hanging Gardens seemed like a good point to check out at some point.“How tragic. Love sometimes end up like that, especially if one person doesn’t share the other’s feelings.” He paused for a moment before smiling, “You don’t have to question me. I had thought that if I could push you away, to find someone better, then you’d be happy. And that would have made me happy in return because I believed that I was saving you from heartbreak, but it was just me being afraid to admit my feelings for you.” He stroked at her head softly, he never thought that he could be gentle with another woman like he had. The gesture of itself was absentminded, which was why he was surprised when she overtook him, laying down on top of his body now. It hadn’t been until that moment that he truly noticed her. Melina was a young, beautiful lady that had just reached womanhood, he knew all of that but he hadn’t actually noticed it until now. Her body, while not as voluminous as other women, was instead much slender and her curves were defined enough beneath that white dress. Her eyes were entrancing and though she didn’t have much experience, she knew enough to pin him down against her. Raeguel, in a sense, frightened of trying to get more intimate with her for he was sure that she was still a virgin and then it really sunk in for him. He wanted for her to enjoy it fully and it wouldn’t be like all the others he had. No, this was much more special. She was much more special to him. “Ye..yes…of course, we can head there too.” He wasn’t really in a position to tell her no, especially in the compromising position that he was in with her. A deep sigh took hold as he reached around her back and slid his hands against it and slipped down lower. His breaths were labored with excite as he struggled to keep himself in check, but was fortunately losing that battle…badly.

Melina gave him a look and smiled. “I do just run around the temple all day. I’m one of Lady Angela’s most trusted clergy.” She reminded him softly as she sat sown by him when she was done tidying up. “It helps to keep my mind from remembering I’m stuck here… but I’m not anyone thanks to you.” She leaned over and kissed his lips gently. It felt weird at first but when she released him she chuckled softly. “I’ll never get use to that.”
She laid down on the bed gently tugging him down with her. Snuggling her head into his chest she thought about it for a long time. “I would love to go to a city. That is first on my list. Whatever city you like the most, we can go. However, I think one of my favorite places to read about are the Hanging Gardens in Parvpora. I love their story even if they are sad.” She kissed his neck gently as she closed her eyes.
“They were built for a woman who cared not for the man… He jumped off from the top of the gardens splashing into the deep blue below. They say his spirit roams around making sure the Hanging Gardens never fall. They float in the sky like Tarishitar does.” She held onto his hand now as her thumb rubbed softly against his skin.
Suddenly she rolled onto him and stared down at him. “Actually, Horae Island would be a nice stop first. It is suppose to be an amazing place to go with the four seasons. We can visit the fey, the elves, whatever you want. I’m not sure where to go first but if that was the place I would be grateful. I heard stories from Lady Angela about it.”

While he wasn’t exactly sure whether thing would help with the taste, he took the offering only to find out it was a muffin. His eyes narrowed at it before he started to chomp away at the baked good. It was good to see that her sense of humor hadn’t vanished. But he was much more concerned about Melina and her having to drink his blood. It probably wasn’t an enjoyable circumstance, nor would it been in the days to come. But she was adamant about the whole thing and he nodded. “I suppose.” Lucian and Nerezza were vastly growing, and had been for some time. His little girl was engaged and it wouldn’t be long before his boy would find his own path. They didn’t need to worry about their father; he merely wanted them to be happy and safe. Before long, the couple found themselves being kicked out by the goddess. Raeguel walked on as Melina held tight against him. “I will, I promise”, he responded as she led him to her room to rest. “Today had been…full of surprises, that is for certain.” He wasn’t too keen on invading her chambers but again she was adamant about it, and he was with little choice in the matter. When they got there, he looked around while she tidied up. “What do you mean by that? Do you just run around the temple all day?” Given her personality, Raeguel wouldn’t have been surprised if that had been her answer. Still, everyone needed a break and he should have been worried that she would burn herself out. “Don’t worry about it, you have plenty to do around these parts, but even still, you shouldn’t be burning candles at both ends.” He went about, going over the room before sitting on the bed. He wasn’t the sort to care about how the room looked, but it did feel good to catch his breath after all that happened. He closed his eyes for a moment and thought of something. “Tell me, where did you want to go first, Melina?”

There was a smirk on Angela’s lips. “It’s better to have someone to play a game with. You are as much my equal as I am your’s Raeguel. Everyone needs someone to ebb and flow with.” Angela thought on it for a moment as Melina got upset with her. “Good, you care about each other for real. If you didn’t you wouldn’t be upset with me.” Angela gave another smile as she handed him something sweet. “Here this will get rid of the taste.”
Melina had just as much trouble taking in his blood as he had Angela’s magic. Once it was over she coughed a bit and smiled at him. “I want to be able to leave with you. Anything is worth that.” Melina took his hands and smiled at him. “They are your children, of course they will worry.” She chuckled a bit.
“You two sicken me. Get out of here with that love bird stuff.” Angela shooed them and Melina walked out with Raeguel. She was on his arm and her head on his shoulder smiling away.
“You are really going to take me out of here.” She wasn’t questioning him but merely she was happy and content. “Let’s rest, that must have made you exhausted. You can stay in my room.” Her eyes stared up at him and a blush came across her face. “I insist it.” Look at her, commanding an elder vampire like that. All well.
She dragged him to the clergy quarters and found her rather simple room. It was filled with paintings, books, and herbs. “Sorry for the mess.” She let go of him to clear off the bed. “Don’t usually spend so much time here.”

“You’d think…I would…know…bloody better”, he spoke in between fits of coughs as he stared up at the goddess. It had taken a lot more out of him than he realized, but there was no real damage done. “In all my years, I had never had to deal with someone that was a far greater pain than myself until we met. Ever since, its been like the ebbing and flowing of the tides. The fates must have cursed.” Melina called out to her, and he could feel that she was upset with her, possibly one of the first times since he had came here that he witnessed such. “I’m fine, dear”, Raeguel reassured her before he was risen up to his feet. “You need some sweeter seasoning to mix into that. It was too bland for my taste.” He still felt light, but he had to believe that soon it would pass. In the meanwhile, he watched the imp like woman gather a chalice, and his mind already guessed what she would be after now. Little time was wasted before he felt her slice into his flesh and a river of crimson flowed into the cup until it was ready. “Take your time if you have to, Melina.” He wasn’t sure how she would react to this- she was still very much human in his eyes and most did not partake in such luxuries. Well, at least not those free of sinister minds and desires. He place his hand onto her back and watched as she tried to down it. He shook his head and couldn’t help but to crack a light small as she struggled a bit. She was determined to venture out into the world, and to come with him. It must have been tough for her, but she forced herself to drink and he couldn’t help but to admire her for it. “Well, I think that goes without saying.” Rubbing at her back, Raeguel could feel himself getting better, no doubt just as Angela had said. Still, there were some setbacks that he hadn’t really gave thought until now. The main one being that she would have to continue drinking his blood. He looked to Melina and wandered if it would get easier for her or not. He would have to certainly find a way to, otherwise this would be cruel for her to deal with. “I’d wish they didn’t worry about me, it's suppose to be the other way around. Speaking of which, I just gave Nerezza’s hand in marriage to that teacher of hers a few days ago. Better to let them deal with that then the rumors that reached me.”

Angela watched him take the cornucopia and smirked as he downed its contents. “You’ll have to tell me how my temple tastes.” She jest as Raeguel fell down. Melina ran over to the vampire and wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
“Angela!” Melina was honestly angry for a moment before noticing everything was alright.
“He’s fine. Give the man some credit, he’s a lot stronger than you give him credit for.” She watched them both for a moment or two. “He’ll be fine.” She tapped the vampire on his back before pulling him up. “Up, you are fine.” She held him still. “The rush will be over in a minute or two.”
Once he was settled she got a chalice and whistled a bit. “Okay from here, we just do this.” She did a small cut on Raeguel’s wrist and let it fill up a good way. “I can’t make this taste good for you Melina.”
“I’ll do it. I don’t care.” Angela whispered a spell and the cup glowed.
“From here on out, his blood is your boundary. Wherever he goes outside of this temple, you can too.” Angela blew in it before handing it off to Melina.
Nervous, Melina looked over at Raeguel before trying to drink the blood down quickly. After a gag, she managed to finish it before she held her stomach. “Oh, that is nasty.” She made a face.
“It won’t have the same good taste a vampire gets to you. That much is purged from your family’s bodies but you should be fine now. I would give it the evening to mingle with you. You’ll have to repeat this every twenty four hours… Spend the night together, think about everything you can do now.” Angela smiled at them. “I’m happy for you both, really. It will do the children good to see you happy Raeguel.”

“Told me what, exactly?” Raeguel was not one to like to be the last to know of important information, but given everything Melina’s family had been through, he could see why she was reluctant in telling him the whole story. Instead, Angela filled in the blanks and all the while he looked to Melina and her reactions. He wasn’t surprised to hear that her family came over here because of news of a new deity. It had been why he sought out Deceit long after his turning, to start a new from the ashes of his decaying past. In some sense he could see her reasoning for acceptance as the burden of her family’s transgressions could relate to his own, differentiating only in that he built his own foundation of sin on his back. Regardless, like he had been, she wasn’t as open in talking about it. He drank some wine as she continued on. “I suppose it makes more sense now to me. The two lines seem similar as their differ in origins. The first Death Goddess back home had been the first vampire deity and of her three “children”, the Conqueror was the first mortal vampire. From there, several deities had been induced into the Family and my own sire was Goddess and head of the clan at the time. In fact, many of the vampires that originated from those lands could traces their lines back to the Shiran in someway or form.” He had no idea whether that held true with Melina’s family or if their line was simply an ancient one. “The bit about the cousin should calm my nerves about this, but admittingly I still not sure if she will come out of this completely unscalded. The Blood doesn’t like to play well with other bloodlines and I have seen prove in that only when turning already turned vampires. I myself came from another line before being a Shira. Azrail, Desmond and Phyrra, though it affected all of us in different degrees. What could work for one may not work for another in the same way, though I merely speak about turning in that case. Given that in this scenario, I would merely feed her my blood which is taboo, given her humanity, but it should hopefully do nothing to her. He was overcautious, but this was a delicate situation that hadn’t been performed between two mortals before.
He got onto his feet and helped Melina up herself, “I don’t think I’m a situation to judge you or your family. Knowing all of this wouldn’t changed my opinion of you.” He turned to Angela and nodded, “This seems like a mad plan, but I’m willing to go through with this if it means helping her.” He followed her into a room that looked as though it just had a twister throw everything around on its way out and looked to the cornucopia. “I’m to do what?” Brows narrowed tightly together as she went around, adding random things (at least to him) into it. Hers words did little to persuade him in believing that this was foolproof or that this would pleasantly go down his throat, but Raeguel took to it and filled his mouth of the newly formed elixir. There didn’t seem to be any sort of taste to it that he could put a finger on, but as it went down, he started to gag on it a bit and was through into a coughing fit. He felt light, also like he was going to fall back first, but instead forced himself to take a knee while holding his stomach.
The things he did for love.

Angela looked at Melina and took a great sigh. “So, she hasn’t told you yet.” Melina looked down at her feet for a moment and shook her head. “That mark on her? That’s a curse mark from being purified. It goes away slowly over centuries, for every century one lived as a vampire. Melina’s family took the plunge a long time ago as skilled necromancers, you already knew that, but they weren’t always human. I had vampires from a god in Parvpora come over after they learned a new god of Death arrived. They had lost theirs long ago. It was a family, blood, that had taken the bite together.”
Melina looked away and chewed on her lip. “The sins of Melina’s family go far back, she is accepting of you because she knows what you are going through.” Angela came over and hugged the girl. “No need to be afraid. I know you don’t like to talk about it. You can tell him the rest when you are ready. Anyways, the only way to purify a vampire completely, and grant them the ability to have children again, was to do the curse mark. They were willing and me, being well, me I did it. They had something I wanted. My temple would be their salvation. I didn’t know they would be so hurt by everything.”
Angela paced back and forth. “However, that was the only way to do it. So I’ve been searching for years, in fact, of a way to liberate Melina’s family. Come to find out the only way to give them freedom is to give them the one thing they were running from.” Angela waved her hand at Raeguel. “Your blood and her blood are equally matched. Trust me. The girl’s blood retained all the power that her ancestors managed to take from living forces. With each new member of the family completing their cycle, that power goes away, it’s part of the deal.”
“My point is, your blood can’t hurt her mind. If anything it might make things a bit more clear to her. The first member of her family that went through it, went damn mad. We had to kill him. It was Melina’s great grandfather.”
Melina spoke up, “But, the rest of my family was fine. See he had it the worst because he was the leader of the cult. He was the most powerful of my family. When they had decided to become vampires, they didn’t seek a vampire out, they went to see a god for it.” She whimpered a bit. “It wasn’t until Angela turned to the light side of where she is now, that we came to our senses.”
Shaking her head at Raeguel, Angela smiled. “The price for their freedom has already been paid. Vampricy cannot effect them, except in this way. I’ve been experimenting..” Angela looked at Melina for a moment and sighed. “Your cousin wanted me to find out so you could be free.”
Melina looked down again and nodded. “He was sick.. there was nothing for him to lose. What happened?”
“I took him out to Adeluna. He was fine and we knew you would be once we found someone to support you like I had him. But, he wanted you to find someone who would make you happy. Raeguel isn’t lying when he says his blood is strong, but if my theory is correct your vampire family was on the same level his was. All we are going to do is ignite the little bit of vampire power in her blood. Because it isn’t from her family, it shouldn’t have another effect other than letting her leave this place. This is a sin she never should have been paying.”
Melina gave a smile and looked at Raeguel. “I was going to tell you about it. I just didn’t know how to bring it up. I didn’t want you to think there was something more wrong to me than what there was.”
Angela turned on her heel and looked back. “And no my blood did not kill her cousin. He was dying of a mortal, very human, disease. Come along. I need you to drink from my cornucopia.” She beckoned them both to follow her into her room.
The room itself was tore apart. Mostly because of Iva and her night terrors. Her golden cornucopia was floating in the corner of the room. The fireflies around it dances as if stuck in that particular spot. “This is the heart of my temple.” She touched the cornucopia and smiled. “I’m only going to give you a bit of a taste.” She took some things from the walls and smashed them into the golden horn. She began to hum as magic poured into it. The smell of something sweet began to fill the air. “Hope this tastes good, this I’ve never done before.”
Melina quickly took Raeguel’s hand as if her goddess was scaring her a bit. Angela took a book and like magic melted it into the cornucopia. “Let’s see… other little things I can put in there. OH YES!” She took some of the flowers she grew and threw it into there. “Okay, drink.” She held the cornucopia up to Raeguel. “It might taste weird.”

The moment Angela came into the picture, Raeguel did nothing but rub at his temples. He had suspected that she had tried to set him and Melina up together, and while the Goddess refuted the claim before it could pour from his mouth, he wasn’t completely convinced yet. Remaining by Melina’s side, he glanced at Angela with a questioning look to what good news she had planed. When it came down to her being able to leave the temple, he looked towards her and noted the disbelief. After so long, she deserved to see the outside once more and the solution seemed so simple. That was until he had honestly given it some thought. “My blood? I am sure that it is powerful, but…to feed it to a human?” He had never heard of such a thing before, at least without trying to turn the person in question. Then again, the twins’ existence had been an abnormality as well. The concept just seemed ludicrous, not to mention he being some sort of lab rat in this. There was much behind that bloodline and plenty of it spelled out disaster that he knew quite well. “The power behind it is what caused for my sire and my sired to become mad, or at the least had brought it out from the recesses of their minds. How do we know what it will do to Melina?” He was a prime example in his past- Nemesis had already been crazed long before he had a drop of the Blood in his veins. It had only served to make him all the worse and that was saying something. What effects would it have on her? He was somewhat troubled by images playing in his head of her falling into the very same trap of murder and darkness, unable to stop the killing and the descent. Raeguel wasn’t rejecting the idea, but he was attempting to think ahead of this in case something was to go wrong. He had to hope that Angela had already saw the potential danger and knew of how to counteract it. He reached for her hand and squeezed it gently against his own. He wasn’t going to be the one to deny her freedom, but he was also looking out for her. There weren’t too many people in his life now, and those that remained, he would protect with everything he had. “I do accept this, though I am weary of what the Shiran blood will also do to you. But I will not have you kept here for the rest of your days, Melina.”He then turned his sights to Angela, “Will there be any sort of side effects from me feeding her vampire blood? I have to say that this is all new to me.”

She blushed at him lightly and gave a smile. “I’m not all you have Raeguel. You have your children as well. They, who love you above all else.” She understood what he met though as she reached over and gently took his fingers in her own. It was an odd feeling for sure. It was a good feeling.
It didn’t take much for the girl to be in shock as they kissed for the first time. Her face had to be more red than Angela’s hair at that point. “You don’t need to thank you.. I only told you how I feel. I told you the truth.” She stayed close as her body was extremely dizzy.
Though something caught her attention as the red headed figured came out clapping. “I was hoping, maybe slightly that you both could help each other out.” She pointed at Raeguel. “And before you say anything, I had nothing to do with how the girl feels. You two ended up at this point on your own accord. HOWEVER, I do have good news.”
A smile crossed her face as she stared at the two love birds. “Melina can leave the temple. I never had someone I could actually count on before but I wanted to make sure that you two would get to this point. It always came down to someone Melina could love.”
A thought look crossed her face as she smiled wider. “Raeguel, I can bind Melina to you, however, you would have to feed her your blood. What I can do, is bind you to my temple, let a portion, a sliver, of magic from it enter you. Enough to bind her, it, and you. It will last as long as I live and am Goddess. Whenever you want to take her out you can feed her your blood. HOWEVER, there will be a duration. You must get her your blood every twenty four hours or the curse will start to kill her.”
Melina had a look of disbelief on her face, "I.. I can leave?"
"You can leave." Angela nodded, "but only if Raeguel takes you. Oddly enough I've been looking into this curse for years. Only a vampire, old enough, can help you. Raeguel just happens to be old enough to control the powers surging in his blood from my temple. He can't use it but I will inhabit him. Basically, he will become a holy place without actually being a place at all. If he wants to."

This was as awkward of a situation as it could get for Raeguel. There was hardly a situation he couldn’t figure a way out of, a question that he couldn’t find the answer to. And yet, for all that he was, he was left defenseless in the hands of a young woman now. Nemesis would have found someway to avoid all this but he could not. He didn’t want to solved this the way he would have- that would only lead to more pain and grieve. Melina deserved better in his eyes- so much more than what he had to offer. A former tyrant and murderer, a thief and a violator. He was everything in the book of vile words and then some and yet it didn’t deter her. Nay, if anything it only fueled her to show him that he was not the monster he was before. Every touch presented to him was met with some form of small quivering from his body as he tried to make sense of her, of all that she spoke of. If anything, she was a saint and beckon of light for him. It only made him feel all the more guilty that he had inadvertently gained her affections. So much that it was damn near impossible for him to even gaze at her. He couldn’t recall a time that he felt this way, so confused and wayward in this situation. All his senses were telling him to flee from her and to get away; perhaps then she would be able to find someone better. As her words reached out for him, Raeguel was starting to wonder why he was afraid. At first he believed that it was a mere infatuation, some young lust on her behalf but now he was pondering it wasn’t her at all that was mistaken, but rather himself. Perhaps he wasn’t trying because he was afraid of the outcome, that all that even showed him some form of love ended up getting hurt. Andrea. Azrail. Amisi. Morrigan. Zora. Reaver. Desmond. All that had associated with him one way or another had perished in some gruesome fashion or were never seen again. He looked on with a blank stare as he thought about his demons. Yes, he was fearful of what could happen to those that tried to get close. He didn’t want Melina to end up on the long list of people he had failed. His golden eyes became misty with tears slowly rolling down them before he forced himself to look at her finally. “I…I’m not that person anymore. I don’t want to be.” He wiped at his eyes and looked onto what was on his hand; Raeguel remembered the last time he cried was when he was first turned and abandoned by those that he needed the most. His own father was the one that threw him out and he allowed sadness and madness to take over him. “I have caused so much pain to those that don’t deserve it. I have hurt those that tried to love me, how do you know that it won’t happen with you as well?” There was fear in his still watery eyes, of something, anything that could happen to her. He chuckled a pained laughter as she spoke about a lightness in him; that was something that was a shocker to him given that for the longest time he could only thrive in the dark. In an attempt to calm himself, he poured some more wine into his glass and downed it as he tried to calm himself. “I want the world to be a safer place. For my children and everyone else. You especially. You…you all are all I have in this world. You do not owe me anything- Melina, you gave me life. I am forever in your debt.” Several unneeded breaths afterwards, Raeguel was starting to feel better about the conversation. “I guess I got used to never speaking about my feelings. It was something that I thought that would only get in the way of my goals. I wanted to see the world burn, but now…now I want the strength to protect it. You are right, I am different. I have people that I need to fight for.” She had been right the entire time; he needed to stop feeling sorry for himself and move forward. He would never be able to make it up to the people he had wronged in the past, but now he could see to it that this world didn’t suffer under the boots of people like Nemesis. He froze in place as Melina moved in kissed his forehead, leaving him motionless until she pulled away in which he grabbed her out of instinct and gave her a brief kiss, his lips brushing softly against hers before he released her. “Thank you Melina.

It had nothing to do with the fact that petals could in fact come off so easily. Her hazel eyes watched him for what seemed like a long drawn out moment. He had no idea what those petals truly meant but what he said only made her turn to laugh. Melina nodded a bit and smiled. “Apparently, Iva says the baby is going to be a boy. Angela and Drae were ecstatic at it just being alive.”
She brought the wine to her lips and sighed nodded. “I do wish them the best. It is more than I could ever wish for living here.” She nodded to him and watched him with gentle eyes before downing the rest of the glass. “Yeah, whatever it may be.” A grin appeared as he gave her his word he would take her about. “I would really like that.”
She appeared less jittery now around him as they calmed down. “Will you show me everything?” She leaned forward towards him a bit. “I want to see it all… even tiny grass knolls.” It was real unlike here. Well here was a real but when Angela’s time did come… it would die. A realization came to her mind and she was filled with a deep awkward silence for a moment. The day Angela fell, her family would die.
She snapped to when he called her name and she gave him a small smile. She listened to his words before leaning forward and gently cupping his chin. “My family for generations took the lives of innocents to sacrifice them for power. They murdered and pillaged. For a thousand years, they did so before falling to Lady Angela.” She shook her head lightly at him. “If they can change so can you. Look at you Raeguel. It isn’t about what you were but what you are now.”
She took her hand away and frowned. “I like your resolve. You do whatever you must for your family. You are smart and honorable despite what all has happened. You do not stare at me with hungering eyes like one would say to me. You talk to me and listen to me. Despite me not having anything to give you, you listen. I’ve never had that before except when my lady wants to be around. It’s very difficult to consider this living Raeguel. You? You are living and even though you are practically shutting yourself in, or you were, you have a lightness to you. I like that.”
She appeared anxious but she calmed down. “Angela… already told me a lot.” She looked away. “But that wasn’t the you now. We all pay for things. You have a new life here, and while you want to pay back for everything you have done… The world here does not think you owe it anything. I don’t think you owe it anything. You have been nothing but a kind and gentle man, even if that was different… You are different now.”
She took a moment before leaning forward and pressing her lips against his forehead. “You are a good father who would give anything to save the souls of his children… That’s all I need to know about the type of man you are.”

He had to think long and hard about her question. It was a strange one to ask, but it made him have to think back to plenty of feedings and he was truly unsure about whether or not food played a factor. “I couldn’t say. I could taste differences in blood between people, but I never seemed to question it before. It may have to do with that though.” Some had tasted bitter to him while other were sweet on the lips; he had assumed that it had to do with one’s own purity but now he suppose that was just the monster’s way of thinking. He tried to keep from feeding on others for as much as possible, but every now and then he would have to retort to either feeding on the wicked or a more preferred option, blood wine. Thank the gods that it existed here as well. Raeguel had wanted to calm her down, but felt it would do nothing more than to alert her even further. On some level though, he found her behavior somewhat funny. He had been used to the grace that his admirers possessed, particularly since they were mostly on the supernatural side or that they had been noblewomen that he had tried to make use of for his own advantages. This was a situation that he hadn’t dealt with before, so he was playing it by ear. There was a part of him that still believed that Melina was better off without him playing a significant role in her life. He was cursed in such affairs and he believed that if anything came from this, she would get hurt like all the others. Plus there were far better men out there for her than him, no matter how much Nerezza or anyone else believed otherwise. “I see nothing wrong with it”, the daywalker insisted, “It’s only petals. They come off very easily.” He still had no idea of what she had been up to around the time his son fetched her. As they started to take to the refreshments, he felt a bit more at ease as Melina started to enjoy it herself. The awkwardness was melting away from the situation, bit by bit. He had no idea of who this Drae was, other than possibly one of Angela’s suitors, but then again he had never pried that far into her personal life and nor would he. Only their twins, some of the other children he was aware of and Melina were of his concern in that situation. “Best of luck to them. The world is full of surprises, and it never cease to amaze.”, he replied, taking in a piece of cheese and flung it into his mouth. He merely mumbled to himself as far as the engagement went; he supposed that it was the best course of action- his daughter was smittened by her teacher and he seemed to share similar feelings for her, but hadn’t acted on them due to pacts and his own mannerisms. “Well, this one will be getting married and hopefully they will find happiness for the rest of their lives. That is all I could ever want for my children.” It was something that eluded him his whole life, chasing after impossible dreams that were nothing more than terrible nightmares for others. At least for Nerezza and Lucian, they still had a chance of capturing it. Popping another piece of cheese, he looked at her curiously and quietly pondered among himself. “I’m supposing it’s due to your curse, no?” It slipped Raeguel’s mind nearly that Melina was afflicted with the curse induced by her own blood. It was a shame that she was like that of a caged bird, even if it was for her own good. Sipping at some wine, Raeugel found himself not feeling right about this all over again. “I think she will find a solution to it, Melina. And when she does, I won’t mind escorting you around.” Much of this realm was still a mystery to him, but he suppose that he could at least show her the sites he had been. Much of it did remind him of home after all. The more they talked, the more relaxed she seemed and he was at least comfortable with that. “I suppose some of the places remind me of where I had came from. There were also places the likes of which I never saw before.” He would have continues on, but Melina teased him somewhat with the fruit and instinctively he bite at it without second thought. But soon his thoughts about the whole thing with her came back and it didn’t really surprise him when she all but confirmed the rumors to be true. His demeanor shifted and there was an eerie quietness about him as his gaze fell away from her. He didn’t know how or why she felt that way about him, perhaps it had to do with her lack of experience with men. Eventually he knew that this would come sooner or later, and now he would have to face this particular set of demons. “Melina.” It was difficult for him to find the words to explain, Raeguel wasn’t even sure if there were any right words for this. “If so, may I be so bold to ask why….why me? I am sure if you were to truly hear of my legacy, you would feel different.” His gaze slowly lifted to look her in the eyes, there was shame trailing off in his voice for all that he had done. “I have killed and slaughtered for centuries- there is so much blood on my hands. That…and it never ends well for those that get close to me. Nothing but death and decay.”

Melina laughed a bit and smiled at him. “Next time, maybe I can cook for us. Lady Angela has taught me a lot about cooking.” She took a moment to blush. “Though,” She thought about it. “Do people taste different depending on what they eat?” It was a random question but she followed it quickly with a blush.
She began to panic as he thought he upset her. “No, you didn’t upset me Raeguel. It’s just embarrassing a bit. You should have seen me before Lucian came to get me.” She didn’t bring any clue on what she might have been doing. She blushed as he took the last petal off of her. “Thank you.” She took her glass of wine and sniffed it. It smelled good.
When the subject came to the goddess Melina laughed and gave him a funny smile. “This one was a surprise. Drae and herself were honestly really shocked.”
After her panic, she settled down and gave him a frown. “I’m sorry for being in a panic.” She nodded about Kaiser. “I’ve heard about it around the temple. It’s wonderful for Nerezza, not many Rosenites get married.” Her fingers relaxed at the edges of her dress and she gave a smile. “That will be nice. I wish I could travel outside of the temple. Maybe eventually Lady Angela will find a way for me to be able to go with you, if you don’t mind of course.” It would probably take her entire human life for there to be a way but she tried not to dwell on it.
“This picnic is wonderful.” She seemed to be calming down. “Will you tell me about Revaliir on the outside?” She took a piece of fruit and offered it up to his lips with a blush. “I don’t mean to be so jumpy about everything. I’m just not use to talking to men very often.”
She knew he heard the rumors. “I’ve just been freaking out over… well how I feel when I’m with you.” She blushed and looked away. “Your daughter has a way of rubbing it in with the other twins.” She laughed lightly. “The petals were me trying to figure out if I should bring it up.”

“Thank you, Melina. You are far too kind”, he replied as he watched her come over to the spot. “I never been one to call myself a chef, since I had no real need to cook. But I gathered whatever I could that wouldn’t result in me setting the kitchen on fire.” he chuckled lightly in his continuing attempt to make her feel at ease. So far he was seeing what Nerezza and the other girls had from Melina from the way she shied herself away from his gaze. The more it carried on, the more that Raeguel was starting to understand that he had been oblivious after all. For one that had once gloated about knowing when people kept secrets from him, he felt pretty foolish for not see this when it was right underneath his nose. Still, he kept face and continued to play host. He took out some plates with an assortment of fruits, meats and cheeses and two loafs of bread and settled them down around them. In comparison to much of the attire (or lack of) that the Rosenites wore, Melina herself was fairly practical. It had been a fresh change for him especially since he was used to the opposite for a very long time from both the inhabitants here and back home in his clan. It wasn’t hard to notice the dress she wore, after all it was the very thing that she kept pulling at but again he kept an observant eye without being too obvious. Raeguel’s facade dropped though as Melina overreacted at the petals on her. He had to remind himself that she was still fairly young, even for humans. She had just entered womanhood, but even so she was mature for the most part so it often made him forget her age. “I didn’t mean to upset you”, he spoke as he picked off one last petal that was by her shoulder. “Do not fret about it. It’s fine”, he dismissed it with a wave of his hand while the other went to fetch him the red wine. He was starting to ponder if this had all been a setup from the start, and if so, who was the ringleader in this. Raeguel could only imagine that had there been one, there was only one person that fit the bill. Again, he shook his head wanting to dismiss her worries. “This was a spontaneous thing really. It’s alright, I promise. At least you are modest for the most part. I’d prefer that over you strolling about nearly naked”, he said with a ghost of a smile before downing the wine. When he heard about the latest addition to the Rosenites, he tilted his head. “Another? I swear there’s no rest for that woman. Still, that’s no excuse for the little one to be running amok. Tell you what, she does it again, just let me know.”The girl was full of questions, some of which had him perplexed with her guessing what this was all for. Even more so was that she looked distressed as she thought he was leaving this part of the realm. For a moment he kept silent and filled his glass again. It was plainly obvious to him at this point that the rumors seemingly true. Raeguel would eventually leave this place, though never for good as long as his children were here. If anything, at least Lucian would be here since he seemed content on being a shut-in here; Nerezza, was the other hand, would likely be with Kaiser, wherever they would be at. “I suppose this is for a celebration of sorts. My daughter just got engaged. I’m guessing you heard of Kaiser, her teacher?” He suspected that she had; most of the inhabitants here had and probably heard all the stories about the two. “And no, I’m not planning on leaving, permanently anyway. I do some traveling here or there, but I do manage return for the sake of my children. But there is another reason for this- I do recall that you wanted me to accompany you here again, and I thought a picnic would be wonderful for us.” “You shouldn’t stress Melina. You are too lovely to let yourself stress over things”

He was always so formal and to be honest, Melina had never met someone like that. The Rosenites were very open and honest people but they lacked a certain grace that Raeguel had. A smile appeared on her face as she watched him fill two wine glasses. “It looks very lovely and well thought out.” She tried to compliment him the best she could as she started her way over.
His words are what paused her though as she blushed once more. “It was no trouble. I could never let kin of my lady suffer. Any good clergy member would do the same thing.” Perhaps that was a lie as the blush deepened and she shyly turned her hazel eyes from him.
Her clergy outfit that she usually wore had been dirtied. She found herself in a light cotton dress. The dress itself was very light and not frilly at all. Modest wasn’t the word but more so plain was. It went to her knees and she found herself yanking on it nervously around the daywalker. A smile remained on her face as she tugged on the edge.
She seen the flowers on her and immediately freaked out. “OH! I wasn’t doing anything. I’m sorry for being such a mess.” She quickly brushed herself off. “I wouldn’t want to get it all over this nice picnic you have set up.” Her words were running into each other and she wore that she messed up a few of them as she quickly sat down by him as the last petal flew.
Her long hair was pulled back and tied up with a plain ribbon. “I’m sorry that I look so plain, I suppose is the word. Iva got my clergy outfit all muddied up. She is excited about the prospect of having a sibling.” She chuckled about the little golem and watched him softly. The blush never really went away.
“So why the picnic? Some kind of celebration of some sorts?” Worry spread across her face as she thought about it more. “You aren’t leaving are you?” Was it good-bye? Was she over thinking this kind gesture? Again she bunched her hands at the edge of her dress. Her hazel eyes were avoiding his now as she felt silly.

As he started to set up the site, opening up and spreading the blanket onto the ground and preparing some of the items from the picnic basket, Raeguel wondered about all this. Melina was very nice, and he did owe her his life, but was what Nerezza had been saying was truly the case? He was well familiar with how some women in his life had confused lust with love, and if this was the case, it wouldn’t have been the first for him. Or maybe he was just overthinking things because he wasn’t sure how to handle it. If her feelings were as deep as he was told, he didn’t know how he would respond. Genuine love had been a rare thing in his life that he was sure that only came once to him. All other sorts were either confused with lust or an unhealthy obsession of a couple of women in his life. He did remember that she tried her best to get him out of his shell back when he first came to the temple. Perhaps his daughter was right and he was just being a stick in the mud about all this. Dressed casually in a red shirt with black trousers and boots, his hair pulled into a long ponytail down to his shoulder blades, he felt strangely out of place which was a feat for himself. He was used to seducing and stringing people along, but in this case it felt foreign to him, like he was in a new land where he didn’t know the language or customs there. Perhaps it was empathy that stirred in him, a feeling that he had let drown into the back of his mind and heart for so long that it was strange to feel it resurfacing after all this time. Golden orbs lifted up towards Melina’s direction the moment he heard her speak up. “Why, yes”, he managed to say as he started to pour the bottle of wine into two glasses. “I had Lucian come and tell you while I…well…set this up.” Raeguel gestured to the picnic, and beckoned her to come over. “I just wanted to thank you for everything you have done for me…and my children. I don’t know of how much of a bother it must have been.” The daywalker gave her a friendly smile and offered her the second glass. He hadn’t missed her blushing earlier and wanted to make her as relaxed as possible. His eyes looked down to her form and shook his head, “I didn’t mean to take you away from your fun.” Raeguel then pointed to the petals all over her and sat down onto the blanket and patted at a spot beside him so that she could join him.

Time had gone by and the girls had made it their missions to make fun of her. She was easy to embarrass and Angela had shooed them off on more than one occasion. The goddess knew that Melina, who had no experience with the men who ventured into the temple, had come to fancy the vampire staying with them.
Today she sat alone in the gardens, it was her one sanctuary. She took a deep sigh as she moved her dark hair over her shoulder. She brought up a group of flowers and breathed in their heavenly scent. She felt very childish as she plucked at the petals on the flower. She was glad she did not have to hear the voices of the flowers. “Sorry you guys.” She was doing a teenager thing. “Tell him…” She pulled another petal off. “Don’t tell him.”
She sat there even past the first flower, fighting with herself. Angela had told her that he might not be so open to hearing it though she wasn’t sure exactly how different he was now. When Lucian came to tell her where to meet Raeguel, she about jumped out of her skin. She held her chest and felt the forceful pound of her scared heart. “Please don’t sneak up on me.” She laughed nervously. Her body was coated in many petals of different flowers by this point.
“He wants to see me?” There was a light blush, gods she was so easy to mess with. “Please tell him I’ll be right there.” She was trying to measure her steps as not to appear so excited. The Rose children were already so giggly with her. Finding the vampire she peered around the corner with a blush on her. Spotting the picnic she almost voiced a squeak. “You wanted to see me Raeguel?”

He merely nodded, realizing his misunderstanding of the situation before having the grim truth revealed to him. A sacrifice unlike any he had heard about, one that seemed like it came out of a fairy tale read at night before tucking the little ones into bed. Many would claim to be willing to give their lives for another, but seldomly only a few truly meant it and fewer have done so. Raeguel had hoped that such a decision would never have to come and that he could enjoy the company of his children for as long as possible, but he wouldn’t hesitate if he had to and would make certain that their futures were secured. “She is just a girl. Of course she wouldn’t understand it. Not many truly understand what the concept of death truly is. Words alone won’t do it, and seeing it can traumatize one’s mind. Especially children.”, he spoke after a long silence. Raeguel knew that even then, one had to experience it firsthand to truly know, and he had died twice in his entire lifespan. There was no comfort in the pit of darkness they would find themselves in, perhaps the only salvation was in that of any of the death deities and if they would find mercy within themselves to spare others of the dark. He had noticed Melina’s unease slowly wavering around his presence, even if she wasn’t one to be open around others often. He could relate on some levels, at least now he could. Nemesis, on the other hand, had used such to his advantage, often for devious and unsavory means. Just the thought of it was enough to stir a shudder from him in how he exploited his own body to achieve means. “It’s usually a loss of innocence when that mindset is broken. Just briefly meeting her, I’d say that it hasn’t just yet. Cherish it well for as long as possible, I’d suggest.” Perhaps he was a tad morbid and that his old persona hadn’t quite vanished from him. There were still ugly truths he had learned that couldn’t be shaken from him, even if he had changed his ways. They made their way towards the bridge; the light that illuminate from the door opening caused him to place his arm to shield his eyes briefly before they ventured onward. The view was quite amazing as they crossed the bridge, his eyes venturing about with curiosity as they explored the new settings. Leave it to Angela to create an environment like this, he thought as they made their way over to the courtyard. “Hm, I see why.” Cupping his chin, he bore into the statue that he supposed was made for Iva’s father. His attention turned back to Melina while the young girl offered to be his company in these parts. “It’s no bother at all. I’m not a people person myself and I doubt that your lady or yourself would allow me to be a lonely, sulking stump while I’m here” Raeguel genuinely didn’t mind her presence, especially since their conversations went well and wasn’t one sided. He turned back to the statue and the tree, watching for the longest time as he tried to let the serenity take over.–It had been some time since he had the pleasure of seeking out Nerezza and Kaiser, to squash the rumors that had been going on with them in the center of it. With their engagement in the works, everything should have been peachy now, but his troublemaker of a daughter had pressed the situation between him and Melina and stirred the pot. Much to his dismay. While he wasn’t so keen in pursuing anything beyond that of friendship, a part of him wanted to at least see what could come with it. He had been in the kitchen, preparing a basket of food before venturing to see where Melina was. Bumping into Lucian, his son told him where she normally was and he allowed him to go tell her to meet with him while he headed towards the last place they had been at and started to prepare the setting for the picnic.

“Lady Angela does do her best… Lord Drae also tries to fill in as a father for most of them. He is her lover. Lady Iva adores him. So we are appreciative of him here in the temple.”
Her bare feet felt the marble beneath them. It was cool to the touch and most days it sent shivers up her spine but she was preoccupied with the man who was with her. Thinking what what he said she finally shook her head. “Iva knows, but only because he wanted her to. You can imagine the talks they had leading up to her birth. They were happy but there was also lingering sadness in the air. He wanted to Iva to know how much she was loved and to understand why he had to go so that she wouldn’t hold it against her mother. When she was born I was just learning to take over for my sister. I listened in to their conversation. He told her that Angela had to let him die so that people didn’t think she went back on her deal. Even as a kind goddess, a deal is a deal. He didn’t want people thinking Angela was weak because of her kind heart. Effectively dying so that Iva was safe.”
It still broke her heart to think of the little girl when it came to that decision. “Sometimes I don’t know if that was the right decision but Iva doesn’t understand it too much. Death is only imaginary to her and everyone is suppose to live forever, that’s what a child tends to believe in.” Moving on towards the bridge she merely blushed up at him and laughed. “I’m just not use to being close with anyone.” She was still young. “And I’m not as open as the Rosenites are, even if I was raised next to them.” She gave him her best smile though.
That smile he had made her feel good though and so she led him there while dodging where others might be. They got to the big mahogany doors and she pointed out the cycle of life and death on it. There was a large tree divided down the doors. With little effort she moved the, what should have been heavy, doors. Bright rainbow strands of light poured into the hallway. They walked out onto the stained glass bridge and she took her time pointing out the gorge below them. “Isn’t it beautiful?” She clung to his arm as she looked around.
It wasn’t too long of a bridge as they made it to the vast circular courtyard. The grass was soft beneath her feet. The statue of Iva’s father stood there in the center and behind him was a large red maple with giant purple lily like flowers. They were glowing now as the time of day changed. She was relaxed as she let go of him. “Angela made this place for Iva but all of us enjoy coming here to relax.” For a moment or two she was silent before she decided to bold. "We could come relax here whenever you would like too." She blushed again and laughed. "Or you can… I don't mean to be a bother."

“Luck, eh?” he pondered while retaining his attention upon the trinkets. Raeguel had never believed in luck before. It sounded more like a human belief but stranger things have happened- peasants seeming turned into tycoons the next day, great empires would crumble into nothingness, and magic itself coming from the most unlikely of things. Perhaps there was something about it that he couldn’t quite get a grasp over it. Her other hands seemed more logical and what he would expect from the denizens of the realm. “Sometimes I feel like the undying question of whether mortals serve the gods, or the gods serve the mortals will never end indeed." He poked at a child’s toy that hung high above him; while he no longer held the absolute need for a bloodlust, his thoughts of how the other mortals weren’t changed completely. More like he was more tolerant of them, but the selfishness and the disgust they stirred didn’t seem like it changed with him. “I suppose that helps to explain why there are so many of them here, even if they aren’t of her blood”, he responded with a disapproving shake of his head. “People merely want and want and give as little back as they can. It’s a sad truth I had to learn over my time. There are only a few in relation that aren’t like that. You, my dear are one of them.” He hadn’t forgotten what Melina had done for him and he would be eternally grateful to her.As much as the higher powers could see, he did try to be a good father for Nerezza and Lucian. Even when he was doing all those cruel, sinister things back in the day, he would make sure that they were safe and sound and that no force, whether it be by man or god, would come to harm them. A soft sigh went out towards all those other children that were without a father here. “Shame, they do need a father figure in their lives. I’m sure that Angela does her best…but there’s really no substitute for having a man in their lives as well as a woman. A good one especially.” His own father wasn’t such a role model for him, but his uncle surely was- one that was long since dead like the rest of his human family. “Iva…”, he muttered, thinking back to the little troublemaker. “I suppose that she didn’t know about him, correct?”Perhaps he was getting questioning about this place and what happened around here, but his curiosity was peaked. It was at least better than waddling in despair as he had. He nodded towards Melina’s request and looked slightly confused as she released him in embarrassment. Vampires weren’t exactly shy about physical contact with others, and surely the Rosenites took that belief to the next level and she had been living with them for long enough to see that. “It’s fine, I don’t believe you done such a thing. You have been most helpful and guiding in my time of darkness.” He allowed for a smile to come across his face, slowly ebbing himself away from the bleak and hopefully begin the process of removing himself from the depression and onward towards his new lease on life. “I wouldn’t worry too much about it, you been doing good so far. It’s hard to be a leader, believe me.” With that, he followed her lead towards the bridge and the child’s father's grave, the smile still remaining upon his face. A genuine one that hadn’t been seen since his own youth.

Melina felt terrible for spilling her goddess’s secrets but still her hazel eyes watched him as he spoke. She hid behind a tree and watched him almost with interest. It was weird how her heart pounded even though she hardly knew him. Perhaps that was the effect a vampire had on a human like herself. She seen him in thought and tilted her head. She knew he had to be thinking about the twins who were still laying in bed. It was an interesting thing.
Stepping out from the behind the tree she shyly took his hand and put it on the items. “Maybe it’s for good luck. Maybe it’s for the prospect of a good harvest or maybe they want an heir to their fortunes. Many people come here for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes my lady gives them a child that they thought they wanted and found out they did not. Some see her as a quest and she answers that by giving them literally what they asked for instead of what they intended.”
Tilting her head again she watched him eat the apple she had given him. A smile spread across her face as he spoke, “You are a good father Raeguel. They must really love you for that. I know from watching you and my lady that you are a good set of parents for both of them. It is very rare to see the father around here for his children. Aside from Iva’s I’m not sure if any of them really wanted children. Lady Iva’s father died shortly after she was born. Lady Angela was hurt greatly by him.” She thought about it for a moment.
“Will you come with me? My favorite spot in the whole temple is the bridge to Iva’s father’s grave.” While it was a sad thought that they would see the grave at least they could pay their respects and see the bridge. The courtyard was beautiful as well now that she thought about it. Blushing she realized she was still touching him and backed away. “My apologies if I stepped over any line.” She bowed softly to him. “I’m not use to being put in charge of care very often.”

He wondered just now long it would be until he was used to all of this. Raeguel had lived several lifetimes over back home, up to the point where he was sure he understood it. Or at least better than most had, but now? He didn't know the head from the tail of the coin called fate. The familiar faces were merely just that- faces that he could remember but there was no telling whether they were that person or not. Angela seemed to be about the same from what he could recall, but at the same time, there were holes missing from her tale that didn't seem to be filled by the information he knew.
They came unto the area Melina spoke of and he lifted his head enough to peek around for a bit. This knowledge speak of was new to him, but not completely unexpected. This dual path of lives intersecting each other only lead for him to remain confused. He took a few steps ahead, looking upon the hanging items as she talked.
"I see. Such a traumatic experience it must have been. Shame that it had to happen", he sighed, taking hold of one of the branches and looked onto the gems. Heaven knew he couldn't imagine what he would do is something like that was to happen to his twins. He just about shuddered in even entertaining the thought enough to just be pondering the question.
"Is there a reason why they do?", he turned enough to look at Melina and asked.
"I can't fathom why they would do so. To be remembered by the world? To be immortalized in the eye of the goddess? Perhaps there's some more reasons, but those stick out to me the most." He shrugged it off for now came back to her side. His eyes looked from her to the apple and slowly took it from her hand. It had been ages since he could feed upon something that wasn't blood. Even now, he didn't require this sort of nourishment, but out of respect he took a big bite out of it and chewed.
"As long as my children are safe and sound, I care little for my own state right now."

For a few moments Melina thought and she was quiet. Was it her place? No Raeguel had the right to know. "I have a feeling that here it is deeper than her missing husband. My lady's ascension was violent. She was not always her cheerful self. According to my ancestor's journals she was always in mourning."
There was a calming to her when she finally got it out. As they walked the corridors she finally managed to opened the door to a circular courtyard. She had no way of knowing if this place was the heart of everything here. Trinkets hung off the tall trees here. They appeared to be gifts or things left by visitors. Things from gems to items that surely held nothing but sentimental value.
"She was very young when she ascended. My age I think? She had a daughter named Lyre, only a few months old at that point, and her young husband. He was a soldier for the army of Arri. When she ascended she brought the whole cottage they were living in down. Crushed both her husband and child to death. I heard that's why she ascended to the power of death and decay first. It only took the peoples' voice and her heart to mend for the Voice to help her move on to her true nature."
Melina held his hand and smiled up at the trees. "Everyone comes here to leave a piece of themselves." The items glimmered in the sun. There were even a pair of sandals hanging down. Instruments, gems, books, the trees had many things that were valuable to the people who left them.
Going to a small apple tree she picked one and offered it up to him. "This is your home now and I just hope we can help you and your children relax here."

His mind wandered over to the twins; the two were as much different as they were alike. Lucian had always been the quiet and reserved one, as well as the favorite of his mother’s people (as much as he detested it) while Nerezza was more eccentric and outgoing one that found herself favoring his darker deeds. It was something he was not wishing for her to have picked up now that his eyes were wide open at the damage he had caused. The two were the only things in this world that made him stable; without them, he didn’t know how he would survive. “Yes, I familiar with the situation with him.” Her son was yet another life he had influence over, perhaps not directly but it was his reaction and his guiding words that assisted his sister in proving her right to rule by slaying him. Nathaniel had committed crimes against his clan, which lead to the fateful encounter in the first place. Had there been any other way to save him, he would have suggested that instead of rushing her into killing him. If only he would have broken away from his darkness sooner…His own soul was blackened by his deeds, to the point where he felt like he was no better than Melina’s cousins. Perhaps a more fitting fate would have been for him to suffer the same transformation as they had. “I am sorry for your loss.” His response was simple and short, but there was nothing else more he could say. Raeguel had never been in that sort of situation before- he had used quite a bit of necromancy in his undead life before but he had never suffered through those sort of consequences before. Whatever they did, they must have performed something wrong or were not strong enough to perform the ritual right. She seemed adamant in getting him out and about, and despite his discomfort in doing so, Raeguel folded his hand and gave in with a silent nod. At least most of the personnel would be gone already. “Yes, she was married there, though I suspect there were…problems between the two of them”, he said lightly, believing the case to be true since she had a brief tryst with him during the time they met. “Sounds to me that she’s afraid of getting close to anyone because of that…I know of that pain quite well. No one seems to fill the void left behind by the original owner of one’s heart, especially if they were parted solely by death.” Much of what the goddess was going, going through the motions and such was what he’d been through prior to coming here. There were one or two that desired his body and heart and was even close to possessing it; but he never fully gave in. There was no one like Andrea and likely there would never be such a person. It was far better to feel lust than love, there was less pain to feel from the former. Letting her take his hand, he followed her lead towards the orchard. Whether it would actually help him remained to be seen, but eventually he had to get through this. Regardless of his misdeeds, he was one that adapted to his surroundings and beared through hardships. This was nothing different and if anything, he had to be there for the children.

Melina thought for a moment on everything he told her and she gave him a smile. "Maybe that's why you were given the twins. Lady Angela is not fate but perhaps it was designed long before you two even met. From what she told me the twins pulled her out of a deep depression over Nathaniel."
Crossing her arms she thought on her curse and smiled. "Only that Lady Angela has stopped it from spreading. I seen once what it would do to those to stop practicing the rituals of a necromancer. My cousins once left before getting it contained. Turned into wights and their souls were damned. They came begging Lady Angela to fix them and to bring them back to life, sadly once you cross that path you can't undo it. They ended asking for their souls to be extinguished. I was very close to them growing up." She pushed her brown hair behind her ears and sighed.
"Well…" She thought on it. "I have an idea. The temple is large and I could detour us away from everyone. Show you around that way. Most of the time they are in the main part of the temple near Angela. Most of them have left for Arri at this point. I'm assigned to help you and the twins until you are comfortable." Melina gave him a smile. "It's rough on her sometimes. Being a single mother to all these children. It's odd that she's never kept a husband all these years but most men who seek her out are just interested in her bed. I was surprised to hear she was married to someone in the other world! Here we've watched her lose a lover then never take one up for years. There is the harem but she doesn't really connect with them. As fertility she needs sex a lot and that's all there is to it. She really isn't interested in too many men to really keep them around long. She is very… independent."
She took his hand and smiled. "I'll show you the private orchard no one should be in there. It is a place hardly anyone goes. I think you will find solace in the quietness there."

Perhaps Melina could see the goodness in him, perhaps even Angela could as well, but he could not. No matter what, all he could see was the tyrant, the beast, the monster. No amount of goodness in him could compare to the evilness that had spewed from him over centuries and centuries. Her words were kind and generous, but truthfully he would need time. Time to get things sorted and pull himself together. How long it would take? Raeguel was unsure about it, and though he wanted to pull away from the abyss, he just kept feeling it pull him back in. For a while he kept quiet, listening to her tale of how she and her family had operated before they came into the goddess’ stead. Still, compared to longevity of his crimes, theirs were minor as far as he was concerned. But he did see her point within the tale; people could indeed change as long as there was a reason to. There was no rhyme or reason for him spreading chaos and death to countless cities and counties, other than just because he could at the time. For her family, they likely needed to adapt to the change in their deity. For himself, the only things that kept him going were Lucian and Nerezza. If he didn’t have the two of them, then perhaps he would have been completely lost. “Perhaps one day I can come to peace with what I’ve done”, he spoke barely above a whisper. One could only wonder when such a day would truly arrive for him, if it ever did come during his lifetime. “I simply lived for the kill. Nothing had mattered anymore to me once I had lost my heart. My love had been taken and the council deemed the murderer, our own kin, a traitor and planned to exile him. It was a punishment that I didn’t feel was satisfying enough and so I killed him myself. The others sought to punish me and I killed them all, just like I had done with my human family.” He glanced over to her with hardened eyes, “I pillaged and slaughtered everything in sight to fill my void. It brought comfort, as fleeing as it was, to me and I couldn’t stop it. I didn’t want to stop the killing. Because if I stopped, then I would feel the pain again.” He had wanted for it to all go away, he had no purpose, he had no one, and he was filled with anger and resentment. All of it pooled together and created the real Nemesis. Gods knew how much he abhorred that damning name now. His past would not escape him so easily and it left him with the very pain that he had once sought to relieve. Taking a brief look at the twins, he wondered if they would suffer the consequences for his actions, just as Melina had for her family’s. He looked over her mark before turning back to the children. “History is said to have a surprising way of repeating itself should one not learn from it. Have you learned anything from it since you came to understand this…curse of yours?” When she offered to give him a tour, he remained quiet, unsure if he wanted to reintegrate with society once more. Flashbacks of his sins played over and over in his head, cloud it from any signs of happiness for the time. “I suppose later on I could. Just not much of a people person at the moment.” When he felt better, he would likely be interested in seeing this place at its fullest. He had visited the shrine only a few times, and that was mostly to see his children, so the change in scenery would sound refreshing. His eyes darted over the door where a child was, unsure of who she belonged to until she made it clear when she saw the twins in bed. He looked on with an lukewarm glance as the two girls went back and forth until he was addressed. He wasn’t as bothered as his companion was, they were merely words from a child, one with a sense of humor at that. When he was about to introduce himself, Iva had to run off just as a man came to get her. A part of him was amazed that she would still keep on having children, but then something struck at him. He had faintly recalled the scent of her husband in her chambers on the night they met, and yet ever since coming here, there was no trace whatsoever. It was quite odd to him, though he didn’t voice it. It was merely possible that he probably didn’t make it through the crossing over. “Yes, I imagine that with her new status, she is far busier than before. Her old position seemed taxing enough to begin with.”

Melina gave him a smile as he squeezed her hand. She made not a move to take it away from him. "I know that I trust Lady Angela and that she is more then capable of knowing where a good heart lurks in the darkness. She always knew you were like this and knew that you were a good companion to keep as well. I am glad that all of you are safe." Her voice was soft as she tried to keep him from being depressed about the situation.
The girl was sad when his hand left and shook her head. "My family owes a lot to Lady Angela. I do not wish to end that here. See we were once necromancers.. Killing or thieving from the crypts. Bringing people back to life and using them to do evil things." She moved over to the wash bowl and got another cloth for the twins. "We came to worship the Lady Angela who was the goddess of Decay and Death." She wrung the cloth out and stopped for a moment. "When she changed.. something changed in my family as well. I think she is a very good woman and if she came deal with my family and she maybe saw the good in us that she could see the good in you as well."
She laid the cloth on Lucian's forehead. After making her way back to Raeguel she got close and embraced him. "We pay for the sins our family committed for centuries. We just aren't one person. Even I know their pain." She lifted her arm out to a black mark. "I've tried to get rid of it but each person in my family is born with this damn thing. A mark of the older gods. It's a silly thing but it still bothers me."
She gave him a smile when he looked back at her. "Don't worry about it too much. We just have to take it one day at a time. You have your sins and I have mine. If you wish I can show you the rest of the realm. From what Lady Angela was telling me this place is nothing like her shrine in that place called DaeLuin. It's probably twenty times as large.. or more. I haven't ever seen it but I can show you everything. Even you need to get your mind off things."
Melina peeked her head around and seen a little red head in the door. She let go of Raeguel. "Meme has a boyfriend." Grabbing a blanket off a chair Melina threw it at the taunting child who easily evaded. The child ran up to the bed and looked at the twins. "Are they my siblings too? They look so weird."
"It's because you've never seen them. Iva, introduce yourself." Motioning to Raeguel.
"I don't have to introduce myself to your boyfriend." Iva came around with her hands on her hips. There was a lot of Angela's attitude shining through those brown eyes. Melina looked at her back and put her hands on her hips.
"Want me to tell Lady Angela about the other day when you had half the temple covered in mud?"
Iva put her hands put to her lips in shock. "You promised you wouldn't tell. She is going to whoop my ass."
"Language!" Melina scolded and covered her eyes for a moment. "Lady Angela is going to kill me. Just introduce yourself please.." The please was drawn out as Iva looked Raeguel over.
"I think he is worthy of my sophisticated presence."
"Do you even know what that means?"
"No.." Iva stuck her tongue out. "My name is Iva! I am the youngest of the Rose children. I got to go.. I am evading lessons." Just as she said that her teacher came in and Iva dove under his legs and ran out the door.
Melina rolled her eyes. "That one is a trouble maker. If I knew she was suppose to be in the library I would have paddled her myself. We go through this every day with her until Lady Angela finds out what she's going. Then she normally ends up tied to a chair and has to have extra study time. I think it's done for attention since Lady Angela is busy a lot."

While he knew that she meant well, Melina was far younger and had little idea who she was speaking to. There had been so much damaged caused by his hand over years and years beyond her time. Even if the crimes had been done in another realm, he was haunted by them still. Raeguel felt her hand onto his but did nothing to move it away, it lingered in its spot as she continued. “If things can be made right, then certainly” he whispered to her. “After everything I’ve done, perhaps I am far from ever making things right and true. Angela herself is an enigma to me and the twins love me because I am their father. The only thing I have done right was to not burn as many bridges as I had thought.” It was the only thing that made sense in his head; up until now he had been incapable of doing good deeds aside from protecting his own blood. A part of him wanted to believe Melina, but the facts were stacked heavily against it in his thoughts. Still, it would have been wrong for him to not accept some of the things she was saying. Looking back to the twins, he absentmindedly gripped her hand softly. “They are one of the things that I do not regard having a hand in.” Not once had he raised his voice to either of them directly or even his hand. He wasn’t like his father had been towards him during his youth. The mere thought of raising them as he had been made him mentally shudder. It was a little while before he noticed his hand against hers and quickly released his grip. “You should do whatever you wish to do. Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us, and though the unknown can be frightening, it’s better to see what lays on the other side than to not and worry about it later. At least, that’s what I have found to be the case from experience.” Raeguel didn’t blame her for being torn between duty and independence; it hadn’t been too long ago that he was placed in a similar situation. His eyes watched her curiously as she closed in the space between them and felt himself tense up a little as she embraced him. He couldn’t help but to be perplexed by the sudden action. Was it merely that Melina was sympathetic? It was quite odd of her going through great lengths to comfort a stranger like him. Raeguel remained facing the window as she took hold of his hands again, his eyes shifted towards the view outside and considered her encourage a bit more. “Perhaps, but guilt such as mine doesn’t die very easily. When I was the monster, it was easily to put it aside because all I cared about was power and control. I didn’t care whose life I destroyed, who I killed, none of that. I have killed indiscriminately and without mercy, none were safe around me. His teeth started to grind softly, “I have so much blood on my hands, Melina. I do not know why you are encouraging me as you are now. I mean no disrespect towards you, but I find out odd that you are going through such lengths to do so.” Turning his glance back to her, he watched her for a little while before turning back to the window. “I suppose. I never could understand what goes through her head at times, but her ability to have put up with me for so long speaks of her resilience.” In truth, Angela was likely the closest thing he actually had to a friend. One that he was at odds with a lot in the past, but the twins were probably the things that at least keep them at least being mutual towards one another. And he did owed her for helping him to cross over to here.

For a moment she looked sad but soon Melina gave him a very heart felt smile. "If it means anything at all." She reached her hand over and touched his. "There is always time to make things right. My mother use to say that a lot. Even for people who did horrible things. Lady Angela and the twins love you very much and I believe that if they love you then you have been doing something right."
The truth was that she had seen the ugly side of humanity and mortals walk into the temple on more then one occasion. They often accused the goddess of being unfair but the truth was Angela gave them all the tools they needed to make their lives better they just weren't going to work on it. She watched him with Nezzie and smiled. "You are a very gentle father. Much like my own before he died."
She was a little hesitant to answer. "I do but on one side this is all I've ever known as well. I am happy here but yet I yearn for more. I am free to go whenever I want but I feel a strong sense of duty here." She moved over to him to give him more comfort. That is what she felt he needed the most. She was hesitant at first as she hugged him.
"You need to stop being so harsh on yourself. Find a way to make up for it even if it takes a long time. If it makes you happy and fulfills you then do it." She reached over and took his hand in hers. It was cold but she gave him a smile. "I gave it to you because you were someone in need and that is a cleric's job. Despite what you have done that is what I needed to do. I would do it again knowing what I do now. Just to encourage you to keep trying to redeem yourself. You aren't that person anymore. I can see that and so can Lady Angela. I think she has always seen the good in you even when you couldn't. She is odd like that."

For what seemed like ages he sat with his children, comforting them as best he could. They were the remnants of the humanity he had once thought to have lost. Even for all his savagery, he had not once dared to lay a hand on either of them. It was not from a fear of consequences, but rather them being a part of himself. He was sure that he would never have children before he and their mother had met. They were innocent, untouched by the impurity that had held onto his very soul. Even Nerezza couldn’t be blamed for whatever crimes could be pinned onto her; she had been so young and influenced by him during those dark times and wanted to be like him. The same could have been said for Lucian as well, although Raeguel was sure that he was further from that blurry line than his sister. Regardless, he had loved them both and still did. Crimson orbs met at the door once Melina came to the door with several blankets in hand. He silently nodded over towards her before turning back to the twins as they were covered up. From her scent, he had made the mistake of thinking that she was of Angela’s kin; instead he could smell the familiar scent of human on her. He remained quiet as she mentioned his name, wishing to stay as far from the moniker that he carried for too long now. That name was heavily associated with the terrible deeds he had once done. “The name I was born with is stained now, and the second one belonged to a vicious, uncontrollable monster that wanted power above everything else. I do not deserve the former and I can no longer claim the latter. It was time to start anew, that is if I am suppose to carry on…” If fate was to take him at that moment, there would not be a fight put up against it. So many people suffered beneath his boot and he wasn’t sure if he could even make amends for all of it. It wasn’t fair that many of them were dead and yet he was still among the living. “I do not know what you too have talked about. She may have painted a pretty portrait of me, but I’m far more uglier than what her words for me might have been”, he replied before addressing the offer of tea. “No, I am fine for now, thank you.” Reaching over to his daughter’s hand, he caressed it gently. ”Nezzie…Lucian, I should have been there more for you both”, he said quietly. He had seen them on several occasions, but it felt as though he had missed watched them grow up. It seemed like the other day that they were sweet little babes in his arms and now they were young adults. Once they seemed to settle in more, he stood up with the blanket she placed onto him still and moved away from the bed as she attended to them. “It merely depends, I suppose. Is that what you wish for, Melina? If so, then it's not all that silly. It’s more realistic than anything. A silly thing is to wish to gain power beyond all others. To want to have the world burn before you and to hold it in your grasp.” The thoughts of once wanting to have such power made him shake his head in disdain. He was a fool from the moment he decided to venture into that belief. Bridges were burned down, his greed and lust controlled him and in the end, he had nothing to show for it. It wasn’t worth losing his families over, time and time again. “Believe me young lady, I have heard of far worse things than wanting to start a family.” Moving over to a window, he stared out for a long time before he turned his head slightly. “Thank you…you didn’t need to give me your blood, but I do appreciate it.”

She had been watching the white haired man since Angela brought him in. Her honey eyes were always drifting to his face. He was handsome and lady Angela had told her a great many stories about the unconscious man. He sounded frightening but in all her years of living in the temple she had seen no other man like him.
Once he had woken up she got the blood for him and fell asleep. It did not take long for her lady to come and give her a potion. It tasted sweet just like all of the goddess' concoctions. Before long she was up and moving. Melina had long brown hair pinned up with opal pins. They shined bright in the light of the temple. She wore something much like that of a dancer.
Her skin was soft and pale from much of her time being spent inside. She was a slender woman but not very tall. Getting a couple blankets she came into the room looking over at this man. "Lady Angela told me to bring these for you all." Her voice was much softer than Angela's was. Coming over she set the blankets down before covering the twins up with an extra blanket.
"She said your name is Raeguel but it use to be different." She took the second extra blanket and brought it over to him covering up his shoulders. "She said you are a vampire. We had lots of time to talk about you and the twins before you woke up." She gave him a smile. "Do you want some tea?" She roamed over to the near by dressed and soaked some clothes for the twins.
Moving her honey eyes over to him she sighed. "My family has been in service to Lady Angela for two centuries now. When I turned twelve my parents allowed me to start practicing my healing on real patients. When I turned sixteen I was allowed to enter her faith as a full on clergy member." She brought the cloths back other and put them on the twins' foreheads. "And now like my parents before me at eighteen I wait to be wed and have children of my own for the faith." She chuckled. "Silly isn't it?"

The goddess confirmed his worries, their home was gone forever. He had no idea of who else had survived and carried on here now. There was great doubt that he would see any of them again, which felt like both a blessing and a curse. The incidents between their home realm and that of this Revaliir seemed linked in some way, as well as these dopplegangers that co-existed. He fell silent for a bit before his eyes widened; if the monster had survived, then would it look for the one that mirrored him? He recovered from his bewildered look, knowing that should anything happen, and it involved that thing, then it would his fault as well.
"I was consumed for as long as I've been alive now. What I have done is unspeakable and unforgivable, even if such things hadn't occurred in the realm or if they hadn't involved you or the twins."Folding his arms to his chest, he looked over again at Melina.
"I will thank her later on, once she feels better, I suppose." He did owe her a great deal for her sacrifice.
"I don't know what I am anymore, to be perfectly honest. The wickedness in my fled and doing gods know what. It was that that made Nemesis, and I am no longer that. And I had ruined the honor of my birth name, so I should not be called that either. Call me….Raeguel." The name did seem to roll off the tongue nicely and help him to separate from his former life.
"You seem vastly different as well."Angela was still convinced that they needed him in their lives, and yet he still wasn't sure. They were growing up fast the last he saw either one of them, yet he took her words to heart and left with her to go see them. Once they reach their room, his eyes looked onto both Lucian and Nerezza, taken in by the fever. But besides that, they seemed fine enough. Using her assist, he settled onto the bed to look at their son and daughter. More and more the young man was starting to look like his father and he could only pray that he wouldn't adopt the evil into his heart like he had done. Nerezza was growing into a beautiful woman in her own right and for a moment he wondered if she knew that he was there. He reached over and cradled her face and then her brother's before looking down.
"My children…I pray that you never get lost in the madness, never. I wouldn't wish that on any one, especially you both. " Raeguel looked to Angela and nodded as she left him alone with the two.

Angela nodded to him and she continued to help him about. For a moment she froze in place but she shook her head. "Where to begin." She thought about it for a moment. "DaeLuin is gone. The void creature whatever it did ripped through time and space at the same time that Timedeath happened here in Revaliir. Some of us had doppelgangers like me and we joined together. Where others fell from the skies. Not everyone has made it." She watched him with gentle eyes.
Angela followed his gaze and smiled. "The children wouldn't have forgiven me if I had lost you. Besides you've done nothing to me. Her name is Melina by the way. Her family has been in service to me since I've been a goddess here in Revaliir. For the better part of almost two centuries." Soon they moved on to a more depressing sight.
She now knew what she sensed. "You are different." She gave him a smile before helping him up. "You are a good father. You might have been a monster but a good father all the same. They still need you." She kissed his cheek. "We can go by their side. They haven't woken up yet. Fever has them right now." She went over to Melina and covered her up. "Sleep well child."
Next she took him with her arms and supported him. Helping him where he needed it. The room across from him was light up like the sky. It was another healing room. The twins were lying on a huge bed and were holding each other. "I often wonder if that is what twins look like in the womb. You can see for yourself they are fine. Fever is all they have and I won't let fever take my children. Our children."
She let him sit next to the children. "I need to attend to the other children but Melina will help you. She should be over in a moment after I give her a healing potion."

Forever would be a long time to merely drift about, especially with a healing mind. As he slumbered, there was no peace or pleasurable thoughts to comfort him. It seemed just as voided as where he currently resided. All he could feel was the coldness that surrounded him and nothing more. Would he ever be greeted by the sun again? Or the moon? There was serious doubt about as he continued to drift lower and lower without any sort of acknowledgement towards it. His body continued to fall, descending faster and faster, heading towards gods knew where. Then his body halted for some reason. Perhaps he was finally in the afterlife, a place that he had a knack for avoiding for so very long. Perhaps now it was time to pay the piper.
Whatever was to happen to him, he would do nothing to fight against it; he had been fighting for too long past his time now. Then something was pressed onto his head and words sprung life from him, stirring his eyes open and letting out a coughing fit before glancing towards over towards someone very familiar to him. The very sound of the name made him cringe in Angela's arms as she carried him away from this dreadful place. He was grateful, but a part of him felt that she should have left him behind. Would they be returning to their realm? If so, then what would become of him? He no longer felt as though he could lead the clan and there was nothing else for him aside from their children.
It didn't seem like they had returned to her home, no this place was vastly different from that. The realm felt different yet familiar to him and there was no reasonable idea in mind of it. At least he was able to see the light of day again, which nearly blinded him and although he was exposed to sun, it didn't burn him at all. The question of why it didn't last very long as he slipped into a slumber again. When he awoken, he could see Angela and another woman with her. His body felt more rejuvenated than it had, yet he was still exhausted. His eyes lazily moved over towards the unknown girl as she injured herself and he could smell the blood pouring from her. He gulped at the thought of drinking it, watching it be collected into a glass and handed to the deity. His head was risen and the blood met with his lips; they parted and allowed it to enter his mouth and down his throat. It tasted so delicious, akin to Angela's herself so he was sure that the girl was another one of those Rosenites. He didn't minded it however and drank it down to the last drop. A small cough left him after finishing it and those dull eyes lowered as he tried to gather his thoughts.
When the twins were mentioned, his sight latched onto her.
"They are safe I presumed?" Despite being what he was not too long ago, he truly did love the children and would have gave his life for them. They were his flesh and blood, his legacy to be left in this world. But what was this world?
"Where are we?", he managed to say as he tried to sit up. It was a struggle, but he eventually was successful.
"We are no longer in our realm, are we?" Did they cross over? If so, then he could only assume that the evilness that had been inside him found its own way here. The question was now what was it up to?
Shaking the thought from his mind, he looked towards the woman that helped to heal him and sighed.
"It probably would have been better to leave me there, Angela." His hands clutched at the sheets that were on him.
"I am grateful, but I didn't deserve. Not after all the transgressions I had done to countless people throughout my time, and all the blood I have spilled while carrying my title of knight and king" A pained chuckle came out,
"Knight…king. with one title, I have forsaken its true meaning and the other I merely lived in it in delusion." He removed the sheet and kicked his legs over to the floor below and stumbled a bit to stand up.
"The children deserve someone better as a father." This was a side of him that had never been seen by her before; there was more of his humanity that had once been swallowed up by the wickedness of the beast.

There were many people she loved who were still falling from the void. Angela would locate them and intercept them as they fell. It was the one who fathered her twins who caught her mind. She was fast to catch him as he fell like a star from the skies. It made her stomach twist to be up so high. A vine came up and caught her as she set her bare feet on the ground.
Looking towards the snow haired man she reached down and kissed his forehead. "Breath Nemesis. Breathe and live." She transferred them to her temple where she spent many hours putting her powers through him. He was so tired and she could sense it. "Melina?" The girl was very soft on the eyes and she was fragile looking. A smile came to Angela's face. "Would it be alright if I took your blood for this man?"
"Whatever it takes my lady that is the oath that I have taken." Melia got a glass and slit her arm. She winced but Angela was proud of her as she filled the glass. She healed herself and gave the glass to the goddess before laying down herself.
"Here you go." She lifted Nemesis's head up and put the glass to his lips. "Drink. I will explain everything to you." He hardly seemed like the same man. "The twins are resting."

What was the last thing he could recall?
Drifting…drifting in… nothingness. Just drifting on in a sea of nothingness. He couldn't recall how long he was there, nor of the time he lost from the realm he had called home. Had it been days? Months? Years? He was rendered unable to move due to not only the separation from the world, but from the darkness in his heart. The madness, the rage, all of it…it dispersed from his very core, ripping itself away from his body into a seemingly black cloud like entity and left him in this state. The man had felt cleaner than he had in years, centuries even. He couldn't even recall the last time where he had no malice in his heart or sinister intentions in his mind. What was left behind however was that of guilt and remorse. Of all the lives that had been taken by his hand, of all the victims who he had broken and all of the pain he had caused. Perhaps this was the fate that he deserved; if he had enough energy, then a chuckle would have slipped out.
Fate.
It was something that he had never believed in before now. Now that he was cleansed of the monster, only to be placed here. Perhaps for eternity. It was something akin to that of a dreamless sleep and there was no one there to help him, not that he deserved such a thing. Perhaps everyone would have been better off without his existence; his children were left behind in his pursue of power, but hopefully Angela was able to rescue them. His clan was nothing more than a shadow of its former self and without him, it would truly crumb into dust and be blown away by the wind. Unless the First was able to take back the reigns, not that he himself was concerned with it anymore. There was nothing to be concerned about as he drifted aimlessly without a single destination in sight. His crimson eyes were left barely opened, seeing nothing by a world of dim light. He had once been a glorious monster and now look how the mighty had fallen. All his achievements and goals no long mattered, they were no longer relevant. Ushering as much strength as he could, he opened his eyes slightly more; they themselves were as dull as this unworldly place and saw nothing all around. The toll of the separation was great, and he could barely utter a word, but with the last of his energy, he was able to let out a few words just as he slipped away into unconsciousness.
"I accept my fate."
