Things like Gods and Goddesses have often been better handled by other Gods and Goddesses. Calamity always seemed to occur whenever a mortal intended to impede on a God's will. As an arguably well read orphan; Kage knew these things but was he still considered mortal. While unaware of the vampire gene dormant inside him; he still considered his werewolf genealogy to make him more than mortal. The skies were lit and almost beautifully poetic if it wasn't accompanied by the smell of burning and decaying corpses. Kage walked the nearly empty streets as those foolish enough to stay all gathered around their various idols and Goddesses. Kage however had other ideas; he believed that maybe if someone went and paid true tribute to the Goddess of fire and destruction that maybe her rage would quell.

Ever so often on the trek to her palace-like temple; Kage would nimbly manage to avoid his own early funeral. Still, the heat and combined hunger that Kage was feeling had him feeling rather weak. Werewolves of his kind typically requires a vast quantity of food and a pack for proper strength. Adding on to his souring mood was the fact that this once beautiful city was now only an husk of its former beauty. Kage was never raised to be a devout follower of the Gods. If it wasn't for these supernatural occurrences then its likely that Kage would have never believed in them. However, jaded he may be about the situation; he was not foolish enough to believe that he could contend with a Goddess.

So as he neared the temple; he began to calm himself as his inner wolf was growing very agitated by the flames. A very large part of him wanted to leave and allow some other person to try and be a hero. Kage wasn't doing this to become a hero; he understood pain and loss at his young age. Maybe all this Goddess needed was a kindred spirit to take her mind off things. As he stood at the bottom of the towering steps leading to the main alter; he took a final calming breath before steeling his resolve to approach. The first and last steps were the hardest to make on his journey as his resolve was tested.

The sight was disheartening at best to see ash piles of fools perhaps like himself littered along the entrance. Taking a deep breath as he ushered a prayer to Rhylana "Please allow my entrance. Read my soul for my worth." Without hesitation or before his fear could stop him from doing so. Kage began to take his first steps into her temple hoping it wouldn't be his last. This Goddess was of fire and destruction and Kage walked into her temple aware that she could end him where he stood.
Xallithelid

Character Info
Name: Xallithelid
Age: Around 100.
Alignment: CN
Race: Illithid
Gender: Male
Class: Mind Flayer
Silver: 30
Xallithelid watched as the werewolf child stuggled up the steps, shaking as he walked, hair sprouting and receding almost instantly. Of course, the Illithid had no idea what this one was doing, going to the one who was creating chaos and destruction almost everywhere. it looked as if he meant to confront the goddess, but Xallithelid snickered at the idea. This one he watched was not stupid, to be sure, and a yellow trail behind the creature enhanced the Illithids surety that he would not be challenging the goddess.

A pity, Xallithelid loved fireworks.

I sincerely hope, for your sake, that you are an idiot.

There was a way tot he world, the God’s themselves ran it, rather that was running it into the stars or into the ground depended entirely on their mood. Rhylana was hungry, starving, and thus her power sought out those that were disposable, she had not fed in months, when it would have normally been several souls a week, now it had to play catch up. She felt the presence of two beings, one of a young wolf pup and another that she could not place. What fools dared to enter the temple during this time? Self-willing sacrifices? No, the people of Revaliir were too cowardice for such things, she’d yet to have someone burn themselves for her. No. This pup has dreams of grandeur and the being behind him…was something else entirely.

She sounded now in the garden, on her chaise as she meditated on just how to get the most souls for the least arcane waste, and thus far the stars and wild fires seemed to be doing it, but surely there must be more. “Come here, Kage, the puppy,” She called, her voice carrying from the main garden down the steps and to the boys ears, “lest I consume you whole.” It was a lie, Rhylana did not consume the flesh and bones of those she sought to slaughter, but his soul, well, of such a good little boy, such a good little pup that would no doubt live a long life…well, that could serve her greatly.

Damon had been dismissed for a time, claiming to have an errand to run, but her mind knew, it always knew, her pup was being escorted to her father, and as such she was left to kill as many as it took. The courtyard was littered with the corpses and bones of the fallen, and the jungle beyond far too quiet as the beasts had fled. Even the large cats of her own taking were gone, so fearful of the enraged and starving goddess were they.

Per usual, Rhylana was dressed in black, this time a simple black gown that favoured her large breasts and shapely hips, the neckline a gentle scoop to reveal a chain that dipped in-between her breasts as to hide its pendant. A circlet with a fire ruby rest on her brow, holding long raven hair in place as the waves tried to defy her. Pale white skin was crackling with untapped power as the souls of the dead and dying filled her. It was an intoxicating feeling.

On a good note, Kage was still alive upon crossing the threshold of her temple. Patting his body down even though it would not have been able to extinguish Rhylana's flame either way. As he walked albeit at a much slower pace than before he began to notice that the temple seemed to give away to a main audience-like garden room. Kage was about to pick up speed thinking that his destination was finally within his reach when his sense of smell alerted him to a presence. He couldn't really place the scent except the uncanny sense that death was near which would have been enough to stifle the courage of all but the most courageous of men. In response to his potential danger; his eyes began to glow bright yellow before his hand became more canine and claw-like.

He stopped his approach to turn around when a voice invaded his mind and entered his thoughts. Though, she audibly spoke her words sounded as if they were coming from his mind. Behind the feminine voice was a layer of power and perhaps amusement if Kage was reading her tone of voice properly. She knew his name and his species without even needing to ask which caused him to wonder about her powers as a Goddess. Was she all knowing or had she gathered that much from the brief time spent in his mind. Either way, this was another situation that spoke volumes of how out of his league he currently was. Still, not wanting to be consumed or risk angering the Goddess further; Kage decided to temporarily ignore the man or thing following him.

Once again, the first step is always the hardest for him to take. And with each step; he was sure that he was drawing ever closer to Rhylana's web. Deciding that it would be better to respond allowed Kage to find his voice saying "I'm c-coming." Taking one more moment to calm his nerves and allow his claws to shift back into fingers before moving. Most would find the prospect of offering themselves to a Goddess a fools errand but Kage knew if someone didn't do something to quell Rhylana's rage then this beautiful land will not survive. As a wolf, Kage is very connected to nature and he can't block out the screams and cries of the ground and wildlife forever. And also the fire often scares his inner wolf into forcing a shift which is more painful than anything Kage's currently experienced. A forced change hurts whether you're born a wolf or not; however Kage feel relatively pain-less whenever he consciously shifts.

Walking into the garden and seeing the Goddess meditating on her chaise was a stark contrast for Kage. It was as if the world burning around them no longer existed and Kage couldn't help but wonder if that's how being a God felt. The feeling of being so far above humanity and earthly desires that they no longer mattered. He couldn't help but think of how powerful and yet lonely that feeling must be. Kage was not raised religious so he did not have any other encounters with Goddesses to know if this was the norm for them but he hoped it was not. Kage stopped a reasonable distance before Rhylana before kneeling in respect to her title and power. Kage was far from submissive but also much farther from being stupid enough to challenge her authority. It was an often conflicting mixture of values and thoughts that pushed Kage forward in life.

"I thank you for not roasting me. Besides, I imagine I don't taste that good. " He said in his attempt to calm himself down with a joke.
