Pyzis descended the spiral staircase that wound around the huge tree. She had tackled five unnaturally large baby spiders and spent the morning milking them. Not what she had planned for the day, but at least it was productive. She had snuck two vials of venom from the Cocoon in hopes of finding Alchemical properties to it. Below stretched out the Carnival, booths with torn rotting cloth housed grotesque games. There were some cages that held undead animals that Pyzis was hesitant to look at. The entire thing was manned by humans, halflings, and other races Pyzis couldn't discern but most of them were zombies or ghosts. Few had all their limbs and many couldn't speak for they missed lips or lower jaws. She had made it through the forest filled with banshees then the Cocoon so Pyzis figured she deserved to enjoy a few games while the Haunted Caravan was still around. She had only almost joined all of them in undeath a few times by now.

As she reached the bottom of the stairs Pyzis approached the closest game tent. A wooden bar stood before her and behind it headless ducks moved across a moss filled pool. She looked at the patron and the ghostly woman pointed to a wooden rifle leaning against the counter. As Pyzis picked it up the Ghost then pointed to the headless ducks and she understood she was meant to shoot as many as she could. She dropped a few silver on the counter before taking aim. With a deep breath, she began her shooting of headless ducks. After a few minutes, she had managed to knock down four out of the five. Proud of herself she turned back to the woman and was rewarded with transparent, wrapped candies.

After she finished Pyzis moved on the next station, it was one of those with an animal inside. Pyzis grimaced as she gazed upon the half rotted lion within. It's tan main was matted and she could see its ribcage poking out through a gaping hole in its side. She glanced over the lion and moved on as quickly as possible. The thought of keeping a creature alive after it was dead was something Pyzis detested. She had died and been reborn twice now, and would never envy those that didn't come back with a heartbeat.

There was a small bark that sounded from behind her and Pyzis turned to see a medium-sized dog approach her. The dog was a ghost dog, but at least he was all in one piece. She knelt before the dog and tried to pet it but her hand passed right through it. The poor thing wanted attention but couldn't get any of what he craved. How would it be to live an eternity without the touch of another human being? With a shake of her head, she rose and continued through the carnival. There were vendors selling their strange wares, cursed jewels and more of the ghostly transparent treats she had won at the ducks.
