Rumors of a dark labyrinth abound in the Koschei forest, of one that only appears in the full moon of the the last month of autumn.  They speak of a place built of stone, of dark corridors full of shadows and spirits.  Wails echo against the walls from the lower areas of the labyrinth, while a heavy mist hangs over the upper part of the labyrinth.

A legend tells of young nobles, both male and female, sacrificed to a ravenous beast in the heart of the dark depths.  They were decked with gold and jewels to send their souls to the next world and forced down the ramps into the lower levels.  But eventually, the townsfolk got suspicious and sent a force of men armed with cold iron.  They slew the dark fae lord who had been demanding the sacrifices, but unknowingly locked the souls into the labyrinth.  

But the tragedy was not done.  The fae lord had a wife, and she exacted a terrible vengeance.  Night after night, she kidnapped the wives of the men who had killed her husband, and left clues to their location.  The men found another labyrinth, raised by magic of white stone.  And the cries of their wives were found echoing from within.  But the labyrinth was just as twisting as the one below, and the women's cries stopped just before the men rounded the final bend.  They found their wives hanging from the boughs of a willow tree, and it was clear they had been dead for days.  They turned at the sound of cruel, mocking laughter to see the fae lady.  Killing all but one, she cursed the whole labyrinth, making it only appear in the full moons of autumn.

One man was allowed to leave, and to spread the tale of the labyrinth's terrible secrets.  And she still waits, as hungry as her husband…
