Biography: Abandoned by his parents when he was 8 years old, Angelus found himself dragged into a life of crime. His life style was not by choice, but out of necessity. In order to survive he allied himself with a traveling gang of thieves, earning a small share of what they stole in order to buy food.

As he progressed in the ranks of the thieves, his share of the stolen money increased, as did his reputation among the thieves. By age 16 he was in charge of the junior members and by age 18 he was ready for the “Shadow Trials,” a series of tasks that if completed without getting caught would earn him the highest respect of the senior members as well as promote him to their ranks.

On the night of his trials, as fate would have it, Angelus was caught by the city guards on his final task. As daylight approached he planned his escape. Picking open the lock on his cell using crude tools made from items laying in the cell, he moved quickly and quietly toward a sewer access. As he passed by the guard captain’s office he heard a familiar voice. It was the voice of the head thief. He had been sold out to the guards by the head of the thieves’ guild. It was then that Angelus realized the true nature of things in the city.

Angelus waited for the head thief to leave the jail and tailed him like a ghost until he had found a dark secluded spot to strike. Having only the crude dagger he had formed from loose shale in the jail cell, Angelus pounced and killed the head thief. Knowing the pandemonium that would ensue, Angelus took what money he found on the body and made his way quickly to the port and acquired passage to (name of port here) aboard a buccaneer ship. Arriving in (name of port here) after the long journey, Angelus set out to make a new start for himself. The port town was the perfect place to setup his operation.
