Greetings!
I am the mastermind behind both Sane (Delusory Demon) and Synthesis.
Writing is my main hobby (apart from anime and napping) but I am fairly new to roleplaying. (=^··^=)

All About Synthesis

Basic Description
Synthesis is an Angel-Demon hybrid, raised happily by her saintly father and infernal mother, who got along so well that they were banished and ostracized by both their races. She is short and pale with long, black hair and blood red eyes. Her teeth are a little sharper than normal. She also has feathery, grey wings similar to what you'd find on an angel, which she can fold up neatly to be very inconspicuous when needed. Underneath the feathers, however, Synthesis' wings are the black and batlike kind which would commonly be associated with demons.

Because of her biology, Synthesis is surprisingly weak. The two halves of her DNA makeup constantly oppose each other, making her tire easily (so she doesn't particularly like flying) and rendering most off the magic she should have inherited from her parents null and void. So now Synthesis practices Druid magic, tapping into Mother Nature for power rather than drawing it up from within. Even when parts of her being are resistant to the other parts' existence, healing and connecting with creation makes her feel vibrant with life. She hopes that with sufficient control she will be able to master magic in the ways normal for her two bloodlines.

Basic Backstory
Synthesis decided one day that she wanted to go and see the world (or any world) and expirience life to its fullest potential. It was a difficult decision, especially seeing as it was possible she would never be able to come back, but in the end one she had to make. Perhaps her demon side was longing for adventure or her angel side was longing to do good. Or even both. So her parents used their combined (immense) power to open a portal to the realm of Revaliir, which was firstly easier to access than other dimentions due to mysterious circumstances and secondly often told to be diverse in races and places to visit. Now she needs to aquire more power or knowledge if she ever wishes to return home, another incentive to tap into the magic of her heritage.

Now, she is all alone in Revaliir, in the sense that she has no family and knows no one from her childhood. There will never be anyone who can really understand where she came from and everything is slightly alien. But Synthesis is a free spirit; good at enjoying life, making friends and rising to any challange. She is keen and starting afresh with only her wit and good will to guide her.

Personality
Synthesis is naive and idealistic in many ways. She is quick to trust and help others, she will always try to do the 'right thing', and she will be loyal to a fault. This means she is quick to make friends but also easily manipulated in her youth. That is not to say she is stupid. She may be prone to slowness, daydreaming and distraction when disinterested but she can be most bright when inspired and is often noted for her sensible attitude and level head given her young age.

On the flipside of all this, Synthesis has inherited a more unruly (demonic) side from her mother that usually lies dormant. The only noticable manifestations of it at present are her lack of respect for authority and the occasional way she can calmly adjust to chaotic situations. Synthesis will do what she feels is best regardless of what any leader or elder might say and, once over any initial shock, sound and fury will do little to disturb her judgement.

Clothing
  • Synthesis prefers to wear lose fitting and comfortable clothing, usually tunics and trousers, while she purposefully doesn't own any dresses or skirts. That's not to say she doesn't appreciate the beauty of some femenine clothing; she just doesn't feel very confident in such attire herself.
  • Whenever she aquires a new tunic or top, which is admittedly a rare event, she will cut away its back back three quarters of the way down to make way for her wings and use the spare cloth for patches, as wrapping or to sell for extra currency.
  • Synthesis owns a pair of worn boots and light sandles for her feet. She will wear them as nessessary but actually likes to go barefoot whenever the ground isn't too rough or dirty because of the added freedom, sensation and connection to nature. She also prefers the cool to the heat and often finds having her feet exposed to be refreshing.
  • She also has a thick, hooded cloak which she donnes for very cold weather or when she wishes to hide her identity. Kisses Wounds permits her to own this for the practical purpose of keeping warm.
  • Finally, she owns a large, material bag which she ties to a long, thin belt of cloth wound around her waist or to the suspending material of her loincloth. In this bag she keeps all her wordly possessions (besides that which she left at home with her parents so long ago), except her Bō Staff, which she mostly uses as a walking stick and keeps in the folds of her wings when she isn't using it. Kisses also allows this bag because it serves the obvious practical purpose of storing things.

Other Possessions
  • For the most part, Synthesis lives from hand to mouth. She will grow her own food (with Druid magic) when on the move and do anything from odd jobs to begging to earn while situated in civilized areas. Therefore, if she does have any money on her, it will be a small handful of coins at most. For this reason, Synthesis can often be found in troublesome situations because the temptation of money has lead her to act (always with benign intent) without thinking.
  • Synthesis was given a thick, ancient Druid Spellbook in her early days of travelling by the old man who inspired her to be a Druid in the first place. From it, she has taught herself many spells and magical theory. This book is probably her most valued possession.
  • Synthesis owns a pen and thin notebook, which she writes in as a journel but only occassionally, to make it last.
  • She will always carry with her one change of clothes in her bag, hidden so Kisses Wounds will not find it.
  • She will often collect herbs and edible plants, wrap them in spare cloths and keep them for when they might be needed later or to sell. Synthesis is slowly but surely teaching herself herbology, as well as what plants are edible, by visiting libraries, consulting the plants themselves and speaking to people like chefs and travellers who might know something useful.
  • In her early travelling days, before she learned the value and scarcity of money money, Synthesis bought a pack of joss sticks, which she hasn't been able to bring herself to use waste even one of, and a deck of tarot cards, which she has used on many an occassion to earn some emergency cash. She only knows one trick and isn't the best at it but finds that if she looks pathetic enough - which she often does without trying, being so small - passers by in the street will give her donations out of pity when she offers to play it on them.
  • Finally, Synthesis loves to collect pointless objects for their aesthetic qualities and as momentoes from the different places that she visits. She had aquired quite a collection of knick knacks, pretty stones, feathers and odd things on her travels, which she often has to choose between when her bag becomes too heavy or full.

Botanical Growth
Using the power of one’s relationship with the earth, one is able to considerably speed up the growth of florae at a max of 40 feet. This allows the florae to grapple or contain the people around the caster.
