Character Name: Sophia Beryl Desher
Name Meaning: ((Sophia is a Greek name that means "wisdom." Beryl is a type of yellow quartz and was, traditionally, used for scrying stones and crystal balls. Desher is an Egyptian word for the color red. Red is the color of passion, desire, and love, all emotions that are typically repressed by the girl. Yellow and red mix together to make orange, Sophia's primary color.))
Age: 17
Height: 5'3" / 161 cm
Weight: 97lbs / 44kg
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Hair: Sophia has thick copper-colored hair that stretches down to her mid-back. She doesn't take very good care of her hair, though, and it's become a mess of tangled locks in her negligence. She keeps most of her hair out of her eyes by stuffing it under her cap.
Eyes: Cornflower blue. Her eyes are almost always half-lidded and sleepy-looking. She often has dark circles under her eyes, if only because she spends many a night studying magic tomes and scrolls.
Skin tone: Sophia's skin is pallid to the point of almost looking gray. One of her most notable features is a beauty mark to the right of her lips.
Build: Frail and weak. Constant exposure to taxing arcane spells and rituals left Sophia's growth and physical condition stunted, leaving her pale and scrawny when compared to her sister.
Weapons of Choice: Her mother's grimoire. She has kept this thick tome in her possession for as long as she can remember, and within its leather bindings are enough spells and rituals to make Merlin himself blush. She refers to its contents as "the ultimate magics," although the truth of this statement is unclear.
Inside this book are spells that were left behind by her mother, spells written by Sophia herself, or spells that she's stolen or copied from other magicians. Just how many spells are contained within the tome is also unclear. When not in use, the grimoire is kept sealed with orange ribbons.
Armour of choice: None. Sophia simply does not have the strength to wear any heavy armor or protection, so she wears a cream-colored cloak that conceals her upper body.
Magical Abilities: Sophia is a normal human, but her true strength lies in her ability to use one of the highest classes of magic power that humans can use - an unusual feat only possible because of the effects of her mother's grimoire. Sophia has trained herself in magic that specializes in light and purity, although there are darker spells in her gimoire that she sometimes utilizes.
Despite her impressive magic power, she has a weak constitution, has asthma, is anemic and has vitamin A deficiency.
Personality: Sophia doesn't have a very proactive personality, and always walks in the path of her sister. However, she's always interested where knowledge is concerned and will proactively go and try to acquire it. She does everything by the book, but still makes a lot of mistakes. She's also described as very dark and taciturn, and is introverted and silent in expression and manner.
She rarely gets upset, but there are few things that can truly offend her, such as an insult directed towards Lise. An insult directed at Sophia will go unnoticed; but she is fiercely protective of her twin sister. She has a clear idea of what is right and what is wrong and is a bit of an overachiever.
She's known as a highly capable, experienced, and studious magician, usually found researching the tomes she's collected on her journey with her sister. But her great abilities are offset by her poor health, caused by long-time reclusivity and vagrancy.
Backstory: Sophia, and her twin sister
Lise, were born of a pair of highly-respected mages. Unfortunately, their mother, Magnolia, passed away when they were both too little to remember her, and their father was nowhere to be found.
The twins grew up moving from one spot to another all over the country. Foster parents kept them at a year or two at a time, but quickly passed them up, Sophia and Lise were just too much to handle. It was around this time that Sophia obtained her mother's grimoire, and a passion for everything arcane emerged.
The two made a pact together out of youthful defiance, and ran away from home. The sisters have been on the road for several years now, moving town to town in their trial to survive, picking up odd jobs here and there and picking pockets only when they need to - and, of course, when Sophia finds a good book she particularly fancies.
