"There are no male wood nymphs. You simply ask for something I cannot do." Angela stared at the nymph with interest.
"I need a child from you! A powerful child someone who can overpower those around us. If you can't do a male wood nymph for me then do something." The woman was yelling at her now.
"Fine, but be warned a child of mine is painful. A child of mine outside of this place brings suffering when too vulnerable. Should anything happen to you and yours the child becomes mine. She is already half mine."
"You've done it already?" The woman grabs her womb. "Nothing will happen you'll see."
But time has a way of proving the goddess's words correct. Word spread about the child of a god in the woods. Everyone died around her. Her young life, filled with mischevious and happiness, ripped from her as the goddess took her into her arms. The truth was told. A child of sorrow she was. Time made her stronger and more wise than those before her. The last of her wood nymphs but in a line of many Rosenites. Her mother, the nymph, had simply bragged to the wrong people about who her daughter was. Her mother, the goddess, had warned and it came true. Who should she resent and why? It was hard to decide.

In the end, Daphne leaned towards resenting the nymph who made her wish and had everything ripped away. To be soaked in power was a gift but not to be weary of what troubles it could bring if it fell to the wrong people was enough for Daphne to accept her one mother and hate the other. She despised her own existence.

"Ma? Why do I not see what you see?" Daphne looked puzzled up to her goddess mother.
"Simply because you cannot see what I see. You can only ponder and dream. You blame yourself for something not your fault."
"But I caused it… didn't I?" Daphne barely eight was hard on herself.
"No, she caused it. You had to live through that decision." The goddess kissed the top of her hair. "I would never let anything harm you."
Daphne believed those words. It kept her warm at night when the flashbacks of the slaughtering happened.
