Nyusi grew up in the kingdom of Mamlak. At age thirteen he was inducted into a mystery cult devoted to a local trickster spirit known as the spider. He learned how to emulate the ways of the spider, becoming adept at sneaking, weaving, climbing and above all, patience.

Things came to a head when Nyusi decided that there was more to the world than his community and after a falling-out with his family, the head man suggested he would best serve the needs of his soul by wandering the lands and broadening his mind.

All his life he had dreams about an immense web that connected the world, as well as connecting it to other worlds. This is what he seeks. He wishes to find the centre of that web, but does not truly understand why. He has a sense of the web when he is in the waking world, and follows where its threads lead him, but it is in his dreams that he truly gleans a sense of what it all means. If only he could remember what it is that he knows with absolute certainty when he is asleep.

Nyusi is a young man. Thin and still not fully grown. His hair is dreadlocked and he has an intense gaze from eyes so dark they appear black most of the time. He has learned several languages, to a basic conversational level, and speaks another tongue that he has learned in his dreams to a level of great fluency, but has so far encountered none who speak it too.
