All About Scilla
General Overview:
Scilla is a traveling seamstress, afflicted by longstanding curse that has turned her into a gorgon. With a stark, unfriendly appearance, she tries to dress conservatively to help herself blend in, while also typically wearing a thick, black blindfold that covers her eyes.
Notes on Gorgon's Gaze:
- The gaze is passive, requiring the 'victim' to look into Scilla's eyes, and Scilla herself is unable to directly control it or its effects.
- Accidents are temporary, 12 hours. Full body paralysis, other people could, with effort, move their body with very low risk. Side effects of pain/headaches/cramps for longer than paralysis.
- Emotions that invoke a fight/flight response, such as fear or anger increase the effects, but they still don't last much longer than 12 hours if longer at all. Stiffness is much more, making it potentially dangerous to move the victim without proper support, side effects are likely amplified.
- Extreme emotional scenarios give the worst effects, the most sturdy paralysis that could make things like breathing difficult if compressed or otherwise laying down incorrectly, someone here would likely need help or otherwise longer lasting damage may occur. Moving victims here is delicate, or else their body could be damaged due to stiffness. Similar side effects to prior.
- Effects and details will always be talked about OOC prior to being written IC.
Appearance:
Scilla is a gorgon, a human standing at 5'4 with a handful of beastly attributes. Weighing at around 135 lbs, Scilla has a rather standard frame, and appears to be physically fit. Her skin is a stark white color, smooth and unblemished, but patches of scales appear sparsely, such as her cheeks, jawline, along her shoulders, and in other parts of her body. Her teeth are visibly sharper than the average human, though she still remains omnivorous.
Her eyes, despite few ever seeing them, stand out the most against her body. A bright blue tone, they seem to almost glow softly, even appearing ever so faintly in the dark. Despite their allure, those who look into them unprepared and unprotected find themselves turned to stone. Her head completely lacks hair, in its place grows numerous snakes that hang down much like hair would. The snakes themselves are very passive, seeming to simply idle and observe their surroundings, even when approached. However their exact temperament changes with Scilla's own emotions, and the two seem to hold a very unrefined connection to one another. When damaged or severed, the snakes do grow back over time.
Scilla, trained as a seamstress, seems to consistently wear comfortable and conservative clothing. Most notably she's been known to wear hats such as beanies, or hats that loosely cover the snakes of her head without restricting them. She has several thick blindfolds, all of which she seems quite adept at tightly tying.
Personality:
Scilla is a notoriously cautious individual, taking great issue with unnecessary risks and approaching situations without being fully prepared. In this cautious nature, many of the ways she lives and functions is easily apparent, as she often carries more supplies than she reasonably needs, and never fully takes off her blindfold, instead simple opting to shift it to her forehead instead of over her eyes when she is alone.
Despite her cautious nature, Scilla is a social person despite lacking quite the extent of social skills that other people have. As a whole, it's more than her appearance and nature that stick out, as she lacks the extent of experience in how to behave and act around others. Despite that, she most certainly tries her best to get along with others.
Partly due to her upbringing and circumstances, Scilla is very perceptive about her surroundings in terms of sounds and the textures of things she can feel. Taught to read braille as well just to read in general, Scilla seems to have a solid educational background behind her, particularly in the field of tailoring.
