All About Rhoda Aelish
::BACKGROUND::
On the southwestern tip of Parvpora is the mysterious Feeorin Forest. Behind the glamour of its weeping willows, beautiful terrors await.
She was unremarkable among the myriad of fae that called the forest their home. A Slyph, an air elemental. The same as all of her sisters she was for all intents and purposes, invisible. Always felt and never seen. If ever anyone feels a sudden breeze on an otherwise windless day, they are said to have been kissed by a Slyph and may enjoy good luck for the rest of the day. Though, within the Feeorin, it is an entirely different case. Her kiss carried the scent of corpse flowers. Her gentle pushes led journeymen astray and into the clutches of the more villainous inhabitants. As was her assigned duty. The witches of Feeorin Forest are powerful and spiteful creatures. Often employing lesser fae to lead hapless wanderers into their stilted huts.
Azar Dinrael was aging but carried an air of ferocity and hardship. He was different from past adventurers that she had seen. He had been to the forest before and escaped, his eyes were gifted with the sight that allowed him to see an elementals' true form. He had returned with a mission, to slay the witch that devoured his brother, and he had come aptly prepared.
With enchanted braces, he captured the Sylph. Stealing away her intangibility and agelessness, promising them back to her should she help him defeat the witch. She agreed. Leading him and his party through the depths of the woods and revealing the weaknesses of her mistress, she fulfilled her end of the bargain. Watching on in impatience as he beheaded the hag and claimed her possessions in victory. As a general rule, fae were selfish creatures.
She should have known that Azar would not keep his word. His men mercilessly dragged her away from her home as she wept and clawed into the dirt. Taken far, far away from her home, she was kept at Azar's side as a trophy. A curiosity from the Dangerous Feeorin Forest. A being that bent the wind to her will and moved as if she was floating.
She soon came to learn that Azar had many enemies aside from herself, one of whom came to request her help, Cearul Aelish. Under the cover of night, she ground a poison. Her knowledge of herbs and nature innate, the only issue had been getting her hands on the ingredients. She watched in concealed delight as Azar convulsed and fell dead over his last meal. In the commotion, Cearul stole her away from her prison and into the night. For seven years she was at Cearul's side. He was the sole doctor in a remote village and she, his willing assistant. Rhoda Aelish was the name he gifted her. Her knowledge expanded from simply herbology and over time she became just as skilled. Rhoda was a quick learner and Cearul was a great teacher.
It was a strange day when the ship fell from the sky. The crew's resident physician ill with self-inflicted ailments. It was easy enough to heal, but she found the situation quite foolish, and apparently so did the captain. It was that same evening that Captain Vicente offered her the newly opened doctor position aboard Gale's Lament and she promptly accepted. Presently she has been traveling with them for three years.
Not too long ago, they ran into some trouble. An unknown airship crew attacked them out of the blue. Many of her friends and crewmates perished in the assault. In an act of proclaimed mercy the victors merely commandeered their ship and left her, Captain Vincente, and Vincent, stranded aboard a small boat.
