This fast-growing reed is greenish-brown in color and can grow up to 12 feet in height. Thick around as a man's thumb at maturity, Cotton Reed can be broken open to reveal the reason for its name. Within can be found a white fibrous material that can be used to produce many textiles including clothing and blankets.
